In Loving Memory

Judy Radeen Singer

Judy Radeen Singer, a longtime resident of Hunters, passed away peacefully at her home on June 3, 2021 with her loving husband by her side.  She was born in Colville, WA on March 1, 1943 to Orval and Wauneta (Nihart) Hofstetter.

Judy was born in her parent's car in the parking lot where Ronnie D's is located on the way to Mt. Carmel Hospital.  She attended school in Hunters, WA graduating from Columbia High School with the class of 1961.  Soon after graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, William "Bill" Singer on June 3, 1961 at her parent's farm near Gifford, WA.  The newlywed couple almost immediately moved to Bluestem, WA (just south of Davenport) where Bill worked for a local wheat farmer.  They would then move to Pasco, WA for a few years and welcomed their first son, Jeff.  They then moved to Kent, WA where they welcomed sons Greg and Jason.  After a short time spent in Anchorage, AK where Bill went to work with a longtime friend until it got too cold, Judy and Bill then move home to Hunters in 1971 where they would welcome their youngest son Kelly.  Bill began a long career at Alcoa which left Judy to raise the boys during his long 12-hour shifts.  As "boys will be boys" go, Judy ran a tight ship and they did not get away with much.  She offered tough love when deserved but instilled a strong work ethic which has stuck with each of them.  Judy spent many hours with the boys, hunting and fishing, and taking them waterski and kneeboard on the river; times that are fondly remembered.  She and Bill loved to attend local dances and had a smooth rhythm together and just two months ago danced across the kitchen floor. Judy was a kid at heart and played on a women's softball team until she was 40.

When Bill retired from Alcoa, they joined a gold mining and prospecting club and enjoyed taking trips to the claim to find the elusive gold prize.  Judy enjoyed making denim jean blankets, taking trips to the casino and was an avid collector of candy containers of all shapes and styles.  In 1999, Judy and Bill moved up to his parents homestead on Harvey Creek (Cedonia, WA) where they have remained ever since.  They raised a big garden and Judy would can the fruits of their labors.  She enjoyed listening to good ole country music, watching Gonzaga basketball, but more than anything, she lived and breathed her grandchildren.  She absolutely adored her grandkids and having them over to the farm.  Judy could, at times, be a little ornery, but she loved deeply and had a caring nature.  Judy let go of Bill's hand 60 years to the day that they joined their hands in marriage.  She will be forever loved and missed.

Judy was preceded in death by two daughters, Debra Sue and Paula Jo, and brother, Calvin Hofstetter.  She is survived by her loving husband, Bill; sons, Jeff (Terri), Greg (Dawn), Jason (Keri), and Kelly; grandchildren, Tara (Will Soske), Kevin, Josie (Mike Hall), Jayda, Billy (Desiree), Mathew (Alyssa), and Jacob; great grandchildren, Remington Soske, Jackson and Kannon Hall, and Rion; brother, Gary Hofstetter, sisters Sandy McCrea, Rena Gannon, and Jackie Schwartz.
