Bill K. Hodgson

William (Bill) K. Hodgson, 85, passed away December 14, 2022, at Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, WA. He was born August 14, 1937, in Colville, WA to the late Clifford and Esther (Curry) Hodgson.

Bill moved around a lot as a kid, as his father followed employment. After being away from Colville for some time he moved back the summer of 1952, just a couple houses down from Maroa Murdoch who would soon be his high school sweetheart. Bill graduated from Colville High School in 1955. He joined the Navy in August of 1955. Bill and Maroa married in January of 1958. They began a family in 1959, with the birth of their first son Clinton, a second son Gary, and their daughter, Juanita.

While in the Navy, Bill specialized in telecommunication. He attended US Navy Nuclear Power Program in 1959. He first served on the USS Spinax, a diesel submarine and completed his service aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, a nuclear-powered submarine. Bill served in the Navy for 8 years. They remained in Connecticut where Bill worked for General Dynamics for approx. 18 months. Then Bill began work with Pacific Northwest Bell in Spokane. He was transferred to their Colville office, in 1966, where he worked for 20 years. When Ma Bell was split up, he stayed with the AT&T part of the company. Later he was asked to move to Portland to Continue employment so he quit and started his own telephone company. Bill worked at the Colville Telephone Company, until he sold the business and retired in 1999. After retirement Bill continued managing his rental properties.

Upon his final return to Colville, Bill and Maroa purchased a small ranch on Williams Lake Road, where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a handy man building his own house and fixing most anything in his shop. He enjoyed countless hours watching wildlife on their private pond. Bill also enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and spending time with family.

Bill and Maroa spent most of their summers fishing and camping. They had many fishing trips to Canada and later traveled throughout the United States, sightseeing. Bill's last trip was to Spain to attend a grandsons wedding.
