Virgil Herbert Krieger, age 93, long time resident of Colville, WA, passed away Oct. 28, 2022. He was born in Willmar, California, October 17, 1929, to Herbert W. and Eleanor R. (Raschdorf) Krieger.

Virgil graduated from Nampa High School in 1948.  He married his high school sweetheart, Florence A. Sasenbery in 1949, and they were together 67 yrs. Virgil worked for his uncle Leonard Krieger as a carpenter in the Nampa, Idaho area.  He became a construction worker and joined Iron Workers Local #14 in 1952 and became a certified welder.

Virgil worked construction in most states west of the Mississippi River and Alaska, retiring in 1995. While moving his family many times, he was blessed with four children, Cynthia, Timothy, Candace and Terry. He enjoyed shooting and was Montana State Sharp Shooter Champion in 1962.  Virgil fell in love with the Colville area and in 1965 bought an cattle ranch in North Basin.  It was a lifelong dream to have a ranch. In his later years he and his wife, Florence bought a place south of Colville and raised Appaloosa horses, which was another dream of his.

Virgil is survived by his children, Cynthia (Bruce) Heaven of Woodstock, IL, Candace (David) Hamilton of Mt. Home, Texas; and Terry (Linda) Krieger of Colville, WA.  His (10) grandchildren are Kara (Heaven) Dressen, April (Krieger) Sutherland, Stephen (Krieger) McGoldrick, Timothy Hamilton, Scott Hamilton, Jesse Hamilton, Amanda Hamilton, Ken Hamilton, Dustin Krieger and Sara (Krieger) Darnielle. His (20) Great Grandchildren are Danielle (Dressen) Johansen, Jennifer Dressen, George David Dressen, Carsen Sutherland, Xavier Sutherland, David Sutherland, Austin McGoldrick, Gabby McGoldrick, Nick McGoldrick, Gabie Hamilton, Joshua Hamilton, Madalyn Hamilton, Madyson Hamilton, Stella Hamilton, Tarren Hamilton, Caleb Krieger, Britlynn Krieger, Addison Krieger, Mackenzie Darnielle and Trent Darnielle.

Virgil is preceded in death by his wife, Florence Krieger, his son Timothy Krieger, His sister Joanne Krieger, his father Herbert Krieger, and mother Eleanor Krieger.
