In loving memory of Vicki Lynn Baker

Vicki Lynn Baker passed away on June 7, 2025, at her home in Spokane Valley after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 68. Born on February 11, 1957, in Spokane, Washington, Vicki was the fourth child of Darrell and Karen Shute.

The family moved from the Spokane area to Seattle in 1959, where she attended Lowell Elementary School. In 1969, the family moved to Kettle Falls Washington, where she attended junior high and high school.

In 1974, Vicki married Leslie Paul Baker. They had two boys, Michael Paul and Justin Douglas. Les became a helicopter pilot in the Army and the family lived in Tacoma, Washington; Louisiana; Colorado Springs; Fairbanks, Alaska; and Germany during his assignments. In Alaska, Vicki worked for Army CID and later the Alaska Fish and Game Department.

In Colorado, she worked at the U.S. Air Force Academy Hospital. Upon returning to the Spokane Valley, Vicki worked for more than 20 years at the VA Hospital. She loved the Lord, volunteering for her church, and at the Healing Rooms in Spokane.

Vicki is preceded in death by her brother, Michael; mother, Karen; and former husband, Les. She is survived by her father Darrell Shute, brother Don Shute (Deanne), sister Christy Martenson (Keith), sister Sandy Walsh (Patrick); sons Michael Baker (Serena), Justin Baker (Stephanie); grandsons Dylan, Justin Jr., Les; granddaughters Jasmine, Briahna, Leslie, Vicki, and Kaiya; as well as great grandsons Micah and Roland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at Aspiring Youth Center, 315 S. Cedar, Colville, Washington on June 20, 2025, at 3 p.m. Donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude's Hospital.
