Obituary

Thomas (Tucker) Simmons (86) passed away on July 25th, 2024, at the home he and his wife Marie shared, with his loving daughter Maxine by his side.

Tom is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie Simmons, and his children Steven Simmons, Kettle Falls, WA. Maxine O'Day (Mark) Superior, MT. Suzette Curry (Shawn) Evans, WA. He was proceeded in death by his son Danny Simmons, Kettle Falls.  He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Nicole, Allen, Stephanie, Nicholas, Brandon, Wyatt, Garrett and his honorary grandson, Cody. Tom also had 9 great grandchildren.

Tom was born on October 21st, 1937, to Dewey and Elnora Simmons of Kettle Falls, WA. He was raised on the family ranch on Kelly Hill with his 4 brothers and 2 sisters, all of which have proceeded him in death. He was a lifelong resident of the Kettle Falls/Colville area. It never occurred to him to go anywhere else. There was no place he would rather be.

He graduated from Marcus High School in 1956. After graduating high school Tom served in the US Army. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he met and married his wife Marie on September 25th, 1958.

Tom worked in the timber industry as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. He spent several years with Matney lumber and Vaagen Brothers Lumber.

Tom was an avid outdoorsman. He hunted and fished any chance he got. He enjoyed years of camping and boating with his family on Lake Roosevelt. He spent the last 44 years of his life at his home on the Columbia River, where he was often found weed eating and sitting on the deck overlooking the river.

He was quick witted and an awesome dad and husband. Tom was a decades long member of the Kettle River Grange. He loved playing cards and cribbage there along with the area senior centers.

His family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice of Spokane, Lisa, and Billie for all the love and support you gave us in his final days.

Graveside services will be held at the Meyers Falls Cemetery in Kettle Falls.
