In Loving Memory

Susanne Elizabeth Whyte

Susanne Elizabeth Whyte, age 84, passed away with her loving husband, David, by her side on March 31, 2024 at her Deep Lake home, north of Colville.  Susanne was born on February 13, 1940 to Homer and Victoria (Lysowski) Waid in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

Following Susanne's completion of nursing school, she would begin working in a hospital for a short time before transitioning to a role as a travelling surgical nurse.  She would join an agency, finding hospitals in need of her expertise and attention to detail all across the nation.  Over the years, she would work alongside some of the most skilled heart surgeons in the nation, along with many other highly reputable surgeons, constantly improving her methods and processes.  Through these various work settings, Susanne would go on to amass enough accolades and recommendations that her reputation began to precede her, and she was afforded the opportunity to move from working with an agency into a role as an independent contractor.

This transition presented Susanne with the unique chance to search for hospitals where she was needed, research the area, and be more selective with the roles she assumed.  One of her great passions was whitewater rafting, and as an independent contractor, Susanne was able to select location within close reach of some of the most exciting whitewater rafting locations across the continental united states, and she placed her raft in just about every major river across the US.

Susanne's travels would eventually introduce her to a friend, whom she would eventually follow out to Northeast Washington following her retirement, and she would begin to help take care of an elderly man through a local church.  It was here that she would meet David Whyte, a fellow church member, and the two would soon strike up a friendship.  Over the years, the pair watched as their friendship naturally blossomed into love, and they were joined in marriage at the church on November 18, 2011.  Susanne would quickly settle in at the ranch above Deep Lake, with her previous healthcare expertise and experience around small livestock lending themselves very well to helping care for Davids Nubian goats and other livestock.  The two lovingly raised many animals over the year, tending to injuries, assisting in births, and maintaining a safe and healthy flock.

In her free time, Susanne was very good with her hands and crafts, creating beautiful counted cross stitch pieces, and her knack for remembering everyone's birthdays ensured her friends and family would receive a beautiful and thoughtful card annually.  Paramount to all however, was her walk with her lord and savior.  She was both passionate and steadfast in her faith, a quality that was looked upon highly by all who had the honor of knowing her.

Susanne is survived by the love of her life, David Whyte at the home; her siblings, John Waid of Thermopolis, WY, Charlie Waid of Linesville, PA, and Helen Yettaw of Weeki Wachee, FL; as well as her daughters, Cyndi Tibbits of Strongsville, OH, and Laura Pieczynski of Wexford, PA.

A celebration of life / gathering of friends and acquaintances will be announced at a later date.  Please visit the on-line memorial and sign her guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted in care.
