In Loving Memory

Susanne Marie Blackwell

Susanne Marie (Combs) Blackwell, 83, of Chewelah, Washington passed away March 17, 2024 in Colville, Washington. She was born on August 22, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to the late James Ellis and Patricia Elisa (Malatesta) Combs. She was an only child.

In addition to being a mom, she worked in management for several companies that were government contractors. A few of her hobbies were sailing, fishing, bowling, sewing, collecting seashells on the beach and most importantly staying in touch with friends. She was also an avid reader.

Sometime in the late 1980's, she relocated from Los Angeles to Northeastern Washington for life on a farm in Addy. While in Addy, Susanne enjoyed new experiences like planting flower gardens, growing fruits and vegetables, raising farm animals and caring for many cats and dogs over the 20+ years of living there. She was definitely a dog lover. Susanne had a good sense of humor and made friends easily. Several close, long-lasting friendships were made with her neighbors in Addy and many friendships were established at the church she had attended in Chewelah. Late 2016, Susanne moved to Chewelah where she lived seven years before moving to Cascadia Health in Colville.

Susanne is survived by her daughter, Laura Marie Lewis (Frank) of Chewelah, Washington and her son, Gregory James Blackwell (Lydia) and grandson, Christian Manning Blackwell of Fort Worth, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local charity that was close to Susanne's heart that provides adoption/foster care services for dogs:
