In Loving Memory

Steven Arnold Christensen

Lifelong Stevens County resident, Steven Arnold Christensen, age 67, passed away August 9, 2024 in Colville, WA.  Steve was born August 30, 1956 in Chewelah, WA. to Aaron Arnold and Barbara Joan (Pidgeon) Christensen.  He attended grades K – 7 in Valley, WA and then Jenkins School in Chewelah where he graduated in 1975.  Steve entered the United States Army following his graduation. Upon his honorable discharge, Steve returned to Chewelah and worked for Jesse Webb, Manito Park, the U.S. Forest Service and Woody's restaurant.  In 1999 Steve became a member of the Hewes Craft family.  He would work there for 19 years.  At the time of his death, Steve worked for Xtreme Clean.

Steve was a voracious reader.  He read history, religious texts, spiritual books, comic books, the local newspaper…virtually anything he could get his hands on.  He had an incredible memory and could tell you about everything he read in great detail.

Additionally, Steve collected comic books, collectible figurines, religious books – especially different translations of the Bible.  He loved to walk, noting the beauty of the area he explored.  He enjoyed mowing his lawn in the summer months and clearing snow in the winter.  Steve took pride in a job well done.  He looked forward to Sundays when he, his sister, and their dear friends would share a meal together.  It was an extra special meal when he could do the grilling of steaks and vegetables.

Steve lived and breathed his faith.  His love for Jesus was deep and pure.  Receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist was extremely important to him.  He attended daily Mass and Sunday Mass.  His prayerful presence was both seen and experienced by those in attendance.  Steve served as greeter at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  He was known for his kindness and polite manner.  He was a humble man and would go to great links to make amends for his mistakes.  Steve was a member of the local Knights of Columbus Council where he served as Warden for a period of time.  He participated in many of the service projects the Knights sponsored. In addition to being a Knight, Steve was a member of the local Eagle's Lodge where he served as an Inside Guard.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron Arnold Christensen and Barbara Joan (Pidgeon) Christensen.  He is survived by his loving sister, Marjorie; and beloved friends/caregivers - Candy Slagle, Roxanne McComas, Bonnie Guderjohn and Dave Hewes.
