Schmidt

Colville
In loving memory
Stephen Fernald Schmidt
Stephen Fernald Schmidt, age 80, passed away at his home on Monday, March 14, 2022, in Northport, Washington. Steve was born April 8, 1941 in Newman, California to Jack and Ellen Schmidt.
Steve caught the flying bug early on in life and had been piloting ever since. Little did he know, he would pass the bug onto his wife and son. Steve's mom kicked him out of the nest and next thing he knew he was off the Schmidt Ranch and at the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in New York. While at Kings Point (1962-1966), he was a collegiate all-state wrestler. From Kings Point he began his journey with SeaLand Corporation and later moved on to American President Lines. Here, he was in charge of constructing shipping ports in Asia. During this chapter, he met his loving wife Brenda Gail. From that point on, Brenda and Steve traveled the world together, bringing back and sharing their memories with their family. This most recent chapter brought them to the inland Northwest where they spent the last 23 years enjoying the beauty of nature and their lives.
And let's not forget about golf - Steve was a member of "The Wanderers", a golf team that met weekly in Colville, which he looked forward to and cherished. The Wanderers quickly became a great part of Steve and Brenda's lives. On top of all of that, Steve knew how to be the best - the best husband, the best father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Steve will always be remembered by his charm, wit, sarcasm and the most infectious smile.
Stephen F. Schmidt is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Gail Schmidt, sons Chris Boscia, Greg (Shana), and Alex Schmidt, grandkids Stephen, Cortney and Gabe Schmidt, Felicia and Dre Sheffield, and Russ and Ashleigh Hamaker, great grandchildren Amelia and Grayson Schmidt, and his siblings Jackie and Phillip Schmidt.
