Kettle Falls
In Loving Memory
Stanley Paul Tellvik
Stanley "Stan" Paul Tellvik, age 79, passed away from the complications of a stroke in Spokane, Washington on October 25, 2023 with his son, Paul, and daughter-in-law, Jenna, by his side.
Stan was born on September 6, 1944 in Minot, North Dakota to Stanley Walter and Adeline (Axness) Tellvik. The son of a serviceman, following his father's return from WWII, Stan's family would relocate back to Port Orchard, Washington. Stan, along with his father Stan W., survived the polio virus outbreak of 1952. After fully recovering, Stan would go on to complete his education at South Kitsap High School, graduating in 1962. He was drafted into the Vietnam War in 1965, serving two years in-country for the Army before his honorable discharge in 1967. Upon his return to Port Orchard, Stan worked at the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton for two years before beginning his lifelong career with the U.S. Forest Service in their Timber Department.
While working for the U.S. Forest Service he met his soul mate, Deanna "Dee" Dahlberg, who was working as a seasonal dispatcher. The pair married on October 4, 1975. In 1976, they relocated to Stevens County. Stan and Dee welcomed two children, Rebecca in 1980 and Paul in 1983. Stan continued to work for the U.S. Forest Service, retiring in 1994.
Stan's hobbies involved woodworking. These skills were passed down through his father and grandfather. Stan applied those skills in crafting wooden boats and many other projects. He appreciated being active and outdoors. In his youth, Stan would be found rowing across the Puget Sound, and one of his happiest places was out on the water, simply listening to the waves gently break against the boat. His grandson, Zane, always made a great partner in crime, from cutting wood and swimming to taste testing Dee's latest creation in the kitchen. His granddaughter, Addy, a kindred animal lover, enjoyed moments spent with her grandpa petting the cats, snuggling, and exploring nature around the yard.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley W. and Adeline Tellvik. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dee Tellvik; his children, Rebecca (Kelly) Gordon (Kettle Falls, WA) and Paul (Jenna) Tellvik (Airway Heights, WA); two grandchildren, Zane Gordon and Adeline Tellvik,; one sister Kathleen "Kaye" Gill (Desert Hot Springs, CA); three brothers: John (Pat) Tellvik (Bend, OR), Gene (Cathy) Tellvik (Hawthorne, NV), and Dan Tellvik (Manchester, WA); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Stan will be laid to rest at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville, WA, following a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Stan's favorite charities: Les Feldick Ministries, 30706 W. Lona Valley Rd, Kinta, OK 74552 and Chosen People Ministries, 241 E 51st St., New York, NY 10022-6502.
