In Loving Memory

Shannon Renea Bowman

Shannon Renea Bowman, a 46-year-old, child-at-heart who marched to the beat of her own drum, passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of August 14, 2023 at her Kettle Falls, Washington Home.  The daughter of Kimberly (Fricke) and Roger Balcom, Shannon was born on July 15, 1977 in Spokane, Washington.

Raised in Spokane for a short time before the family relocated to Davenport, Washington, some may have called her an older sister to her three siblings, Tia, Josh, and Caleb, however the trio would have likely given her a much more colorful title.  From a young age, Shannon was an artistic and free-spirited individual.  By the time she had finished attending Kettle Falls High School, Shannon had developed quite the skills for crafting, various arts, and drawing.  Several of her drawings would be turned into tattoos, including one on her very own shoulder.

Shannon was a woman who utilized many of her skills in several career fields throughout her life.  She spent time as a truck driver, hauling logs, and breaking horses, among other things, and while it wasn't in an official capacity, she was able to do some mechanic work in a pinch.  It may not be the most professional fix, and sometimes the fix didn't work at all; but whether it was a car or a chainsaw, Shannon was always prepared to put her best effort and redneck ingenuity to the task.  It was this same ingenuity that earned her the title of "The Redneck Martha Stweart" among her friends and family.  If anyone came across a craft or item they wanted to recreate, they would bring it to Shannon to get cracking on, and she never disappointed.

Shannon was ablet to find value in anything she came across.  Four-legged friends were always deserving of a home, materials from cloth and wire to car parts and wooden palates could always be repurposed into the next craft or repair, and whenever she came across a yard sale, the gears in her head were immediately turning, figuring out what she could get for her friends and family.  In everything she did, Shannon put others first.  Her nieces and nephews adored her as much as she adored them, if that was ever even possible.  More than anyone else, the little ones were always first and foremost in her heart.  They would light up with joy anytime they heard her truck coming up the drive, and they saw right through her tough tatted exterior for the loving, caring, auntie that was crazy in the most fun type of ways.

Being a motorcycle riding, car fixing, tattoo loving woman, it came as a surprise to some that she had a huge soft spot for all things Christmas, she loved to have fir bows to bring in the fresh Christmas smell, and anything snowman themed quickly found a new home with her.  The perfect combination of her love for all things Christmas and her redneck ingenuity would be summed up with the multiple stories her family and friends can share of her using (or attempting to use) all sorts of items as sleds, from antifreeze jugs to the hood of a car, anything could be a sled if Shannon tried hard enough.

In death, Shannon was reunited with her loving son, Colby; and her grandparents, Mel and Evelyn Fricke and Dan and Bettylou Balcom.

She is survived by her daughter, Saige; her parents, Kimberly and Roger Balcom and Mike Bowman; siblings, Tia, Josh (Jess), Caleb (Amanda), Martha (Dave), Brad (Jackie), and Zach Bowman; as well her nieces and nephews, Marcail, Emmitt, Oaklie, Natalia, Damon, Kendall, Avery, and Ashton "Bubba", all of whom will forever miss her sense of humor and adventure.
