In Loving Memory

Sally Sue Weinberg

Sally Sue Weinberg went to be with her Precious Heavenly Father on June 1, 2022 at the age of 82. She was born Sally Sue Pietsch to two missionary parents, Timothy and Helen Pietsch, on June 19, 1939 in Fukuoka, Japan. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles (Chuck) Weinberg on February 21, 2016. She leaves behind her three brothers, Kelsey Pietsch, Timothy Pietsch and David Pietsch; her five children, Rosemarie Hodgson, Roberta Christian, Charles Weinberg, Charlotte Derkacht and Joy Malmberg; and 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

As a child Sally moved to California and then to Hawaii during World War II. The Pietsch family, now six including her three brothers, moved back to Japan after the war where they bought property in Tokyo to start a kindergarten and church, as well as build a house.

Sally had many stories about living in Japan and was deeply saddened by the people praying to the idols and the many people who visited the Great Temples to worship.

Sally graduated from Christian School In Japan (CSIJ) which was followed by moving to Corvallis, Oregon to marry Chuck in March 1959.

Sally and Chuck had their first four children all under the age of five years by the time she was twenty-five years old. The fifth bundle of "Joy" arrived six years later in April 1971.  Sally was busy raising children while Chuck was busy teaching and leading several schools. They moved often going from Oregon to New Jersey, followed by Tokyo, Japan. Upon returning from Japan they moved back to Oregon followed by Washington, Maryland, Virginia and finally back to Washington.

While on the east coast, Sally taught K-4 at Evangel Christian School in Dale City, Virginia for twelve years and loved every minute of it. Her hobbies included China painting, loving her dogs and sorting.

Sally had many friends over the years. She kept in touch with many of them until the last two weeks of her life. Her sense of humor was infectious.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The memorial service will be held on June 18, 2022 at 10:00am at Chewelah Baptist Church, Chewelah, Washington.
