Obituary

Sally Marlene Hedrick, age 79, a longtime resident of Colville, WA passed away on November 13, 2021 in Spokane due to pancreatic cancer.  Sally was born on November 24, 1941 in Diamondville, PA the daughter of James Claire and Hazel Gertrude (Gibson) Learn.

Sally moved to the Colville, WA with her family at a very young age.  She then grew up on the family farm in the Williams valley near Colville.  Sally attended grade school and high school in Colville.  She finished school and on April 5, 1959 married her lifelong friend and neighbor in the valley, Raymond Lewis Hedrick.  They began a family and Sally worked in the home.   A few years later, Sally and Ray and their two daughters moved to Moscow, ID in Ray's Corvette.  The family grew with the birth of their son, Brian, and Sally helped to support the family, working outside the home as Ray finished his college education.  In 1965, they returned to Colville.  After six years in town, they moved onto the family ranch on January 1, 1971 and into the home that Ray had built.  Sally continued working outside the home once in Colville. Her work began in the offices of DSHS when they were in the Draper Memorial Building.  In 1971, she began a 28-year career at Hofstetter School where she worked as an administrative assistant.  In that role, she also spent much of her day attentive to the needs of the students, parents and school guests at the front desk of the school office.  In 1999 she retired from Hofstetter and embraced her role as a full-time farmers wife.

Sally enjoyed working the farm and snowmobiling with her husband, Ray.  Sally was active in the local Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the many projects, events and fun gatherings.  She read voraciously and enjoyed all genres of the written word.  Her family smiled in reflection of the home baked meals, breads and desserts they enjoyed day after day growing up. Her snicker doodles were a sought-after dessert creating palatable moments of joy in the lives of her family and friends.  Sally was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.  She was always on the go and with a kindness and generosity that was without end.  Sally loved well and was loved by all in return.

Sally was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Darrell Learn and sister, Judith Dunham

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Raymond Hedrick at the home; daughters, Cory Hedrick and Kelly Hedrick of Colville, WA; son, Brian Hedrick of Colville, WA; grandchildren, Tanya Trampush (Jess), Kaylynn Garrison (Christopher), Keegan Webster, Sean Bemis, Andrea Kulow (Michael) and Cody Hedrick (Kasey), Shaina Foley (Isaac); 16 great grandchildren; siblings, Lucy Lee of Clarkston, WA and Mike Learn (Karen) of Colville, WA; several nieces and nephews; a host of extended family and friends.
