In Loving Memory
Ryan Keith Cornett
Ryan Keith Cornett, age 41, passed away unexpectedly in Chewelah, Washington on January 26, 2023. Ryan was born in Brewster, Washington on January 25, 1982 to Richard and Susan (Milton) Cornett.
Ryan was raised between his mother's home in Federal Way, Washington and his father's home in Okanogan, Washington. Learning began far before school started, with him riding a bike without training wheels and inheriting the love for motocross, which he would carry his entire life from his father and grandfather, Rick and Carmon. His grandfather, Carmon, had a dirt bike track on his farm in Okanogan, and Ryan spent countless hours ripping around the track. His childhood was filled with many adventures in his community in Federal Way where he was raised with his little brother. Friends were everywhere he went and always had stories to tell of their doings. When with his father, they created countless memories as they ran cattle to Monroe in their cattle truck, with little Ryan manning the wheel over the mountain passes at just 14.
After Rick and his wife, Turesa, relocated to Addy, Ryan would come to Stevens County to visit with them and help with the family business, Cornett Custom Meats. Ryan would go on to graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School, and immediately entered the workforce. He was a jack of all trades and wore many hats throughout his life. He lived by the motto "Fake it 'til you make it", and he developed quite the knack for learning as he went. He spent time roasting nuts, working as a delivery driver, packaging foods, working at Les Schwab, a number of times, and working in manufacturing.
As his father's heath declined, Ryan, his girlfriend, Alynna and their son Trey, relocated to Chewelah, Washington, to assist with the family meat cutting business. After Rick's passing, Ryan assumed ownership and carried on his family's three generation legacy. He was immediately a natural, having inherited not only Rick's meat cutting skills, but also his magnetic and kind personality. Everyone loved Ryan, whether they were working for him or with him, close friend, family, or stranger; Ryan was able to get along with anyone he came across. He was the kind of guy that could be quite a jokester, scaring his mom as he raced down the highway, or snapping people with the occasional towel, and if he wasn't getting a friendly rise out of someone, he could usually be found fishing or hunting in his free time.
Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Richard "Rick" Cornett and his grandfather Carmon Cornett. He is survived by his son Trey, whom was his pride and joy and is a mini Ryan; his girlfriend Alynna Maggs; mother and stepfather, Susan and Scott Sorg; his brother Seth Sorg, stepmother Turesa Cornett; step-siblings, Heidi Mitchell, Laci (Nathan), Dylan Mitchell. Ryan has a huge family full of aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as the countless friends he made family and all the lives he impacted along the way. He was one of a kind and brought a smile to everyone every time he saw them. He is so loved and will be missed every second or every day and we will all keep his memories alive.
A celebration of Ryan's life is being planned for later this year, time and location to be announced at a later date. Please visit the online memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted in care.
