Roy Lee Barton

Roy Lee Barton, 76, a lifetime resident of Colville, Washington passed away December 30, 2022 at his home in Colville. He was born in Colville, Washington July 8, 1946 to the late Lawrence and Marjorie (Matthews) Barton.

Roy grew up and worked on the family dairy farm located in the Douglas Falls area. Roy was very active in FFA, 4-H and mentoring his younger siblings on showing their cows at the local fairs. He graduated from Colville High School in 1966. After high school and before settling permently in Colville he spent weeks backpacking and skiing across Europe. Roy's working career was spent in the timber industry and construction. He loved bicycling, skiing, hiking and spent weeks in the summer months scouting for the best huckleberry patch of the season and had the family on the mountain picking and filling their freezers with the illusive fruit. Roy's short walks always turned into hours visiting all his neighbors. He could always be counted on to help his older neighbors by shoveling snow and raking leaves. Gardening became his full-time passion after retirement including passing his knowledge and love of gardening on to the next generation. Roy will always be remembered for his beautiful Gladiolas, Dahlias and delicious strawberries.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Marjorie Barton; brother, Leslie Barton and niece, Hannah.

He is survived by seven siblings; Sheryl (Chuck) of Colville, Ron (Yvonne) of Denver, CO, Roger (Shery) of Colville, Joyce (Don) of Yakima, Sharon (BJ) of Naples, ID, Dennis (Angie) of Colville, Denese (Russ) of Colville; one sister-in-law Cheryl of St Louis, MO and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
