In Loving Memory
Rosemarie Waltner
The Waltner family is saddened to announce the passing of Rosemarie Waltner (née Dubois), on January 7, 2025. Rosemarie Waltner was born in November of 1933 in Arden, Washington. Her family moved to a farm at Loon Lake where she went to a one - room schoolhouse for her early education. Eventually the family settled on a farm in Colville. She attended Colville Senior HS where she excelled in singing as a member of the Colville High School Elks Choraliers, who were considered one of the most popular singing groups in the Northwest in 1952. Rosemarie also took great pride in having helped build the letter C on the hill above Colville.
Rosemarie briefly attended Eastern Washington State College, and later married Joseph Waltner of Chewelah, Washington on June 17, 1954. Early on in their marriage, they were stationed at Barbers Point Naval Base in Honolulu, Hawaii, where their daughter, Katherine, was born. They later moved to Spokane where their family grew to include seven more children: Michelle, Terese, Al, Mary, Patty, Paula, and John. On her birthday weekend in 1972, they moved to Seattle, Washington. Finally in 2007, they fulfilled their dream of retiring near family and friends again in Chewelah.
Our mother dearly loved the spouses of her children: Tom, Matt, Erin, Blaine and Sarah, along with her 14 grandchildren. They spent many days fishing and swimming with Rosemarie and Joe at Deer Lake and golfing at the Chewelah Golf Course. As the years went by, she was blessed with 10 great - grandchildren.
Rosemarie will be remembered for: her beautiful smile, great family dinners, Sunday cinnamon rolls, Easter Butterhorn rolls, breakfast pancakes/French toast, "God bless the cook!", canning and freezing everything for a family of 10, her abilities as a seamstress, great squishy sweaters, saying the Rosary, quiet coffee conversations in the morning, welcoming anyone into our home, being a loving mother and grandmother, her patience, forgiving nature, and unconditional love!
We love you, Mom! We love you, Grandma! We love you, Great Grandma!
Viewing will begin at 9:00 am, Rosary Service at 9:45 am, and Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Mary of the Rosary Catholic Church on Thursday, January 16, 2025. Burial will take place immediately following at the St. Mary's Cemetery on Flowery Trail Rd.
