Rose Florence Lentz

Rose Florence Lentz, age 90, passed away in Spokane, Washington on November 18, 2021.  Rose was born on August 26, 1931 in Ronan, MT to Albert and Florence (Baker) Lofts, joining siblings Robert and LaVerne.

The family would move to Iowa shortly after, where Rose's sisters, Nora and Juanita would be born.  Following the birth of her sisters, Rose's family would move to Washington, where they farmed and ran a sawmill.  Rose started school in Kettle Falls, later finishing her schooling at the Orin-Rice Country School after relocating to Colville, where her siblings Caroline and Charlie would be born.

In 1950, the family moved to the Matanuska Valley in Palmer, AK.  At a neighborhood baseball game, Rose met the love of her life, Don Lentz.  They married on October 29, 1950, and together began farming and started a dairy.  The pair would become parents with the birth of their first daughter, Kathie, in November of 1951.

In 1954, Rose and Don would sell their dairy, and began logging in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.  After this, they would settle down for a time in Booneville, AR, where they would purchase and begin running another farm.  Here, Rose enjoyed working in her huge garden and beautiful yard.  She and Don would welcome two more children in Paris, AR, Debbie in 1955, followed by Donnie in 1958.  In 1963, Rose would return to Colville with her family, and Don and Rose would build their home on Orin Hill, where they continued to live.

They were known for their beautiful yard and garden.  After Don retired from Boise Cascade, they were always helping one of the kids with whatever came up.  They loved to get up early to tend to their yard and garden before heading to their houseboat on the Columbia River.  Rose was a loving and caring wife, mother, and sister.

Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Don Lentz; her brothers, Robert (Swede), LaVerne (Dutch), and Charlie; and her parents, Albert and Florence Lofts.  She is survived by her Daughters, Kathie Nelson of Colville, and Debbie (Juan) Adams of Spokane; her son, Don Jr. (Cheryl) Lentz of Colville; her Grandkids; Tom (Lori) Baun, Donovan, and Nicole (Cody) Heathman, all of Colville; her Great-grandkids; Tj, Trent, and Tyler Baun, Emory, Elaina Rose Heathman, Bryson and Bodie Lentz; her sisters, Nora Widdowson and Caroline Wittorf of Colville and Juanita Winton of Roland, OK; her sisters-in-law, Sharlene Lofts of Colville, and JoeAnn Vanover of Eagle River, AK, her brother-in-law, Joey (Gerri) Lentz of Palmer, AK; along with many nieces and nephews.
