Kettle Falls
In Loving Memory
Ronald Orin Eslick
Ronald "Ron" Orin Eslick, a lifetime area resident, passed away unexpectedly from complications of a recent stroke on March 2, 2022 in Spokane, WA. He was the middle child of thirteen, born to Milton and Lillian Ruth (Weitman) Eslick in Colville, WA on May 15, 1947.
At a very early age, Ron learned the ethics of hard work growing up on the family farm. As a 3-year-old, Ron was able to harness a team of horses by himself. As he grew older, harvesting potatoes, milking cows and cutting hay became a primary role after his father was injured and the children had to step-up. Ron attended Orient School until the eighth grade and then attended Kettle Falls High School where he was a member of the track team and band member. Ron graduated from Kettle Falls High School in the class of 1966.
Shortly after graduating high school, Ron enlisted into the U.S. Air Force. After basic training, Ron was stationed at RAF Lakenheath in England. While stationed overseas, Ron met and fell in love with an English girl Rosemary Simmonds. Ron and Rosemary would get married on July 26, 1969, at St. Giles Methodist Church in Norwich, England. They would welcome their first son, Nathan in May of 1970. Ron would spend four and a half years stationed in England before returning stateside. Ron was honorably discharged from Trenton AFB in New Jersey and they began their journey west to Orient, WA.
Ron and Rosemary would then welcome a daughter Sara in March 1972 and a second son, Justin in February 1977, to complete their family. Ron started working at the Forest Service and then got a job at the Orient School District. Ron worked for the Orient School District for 25 years, driving a school bus and as a maintenance man. Ron was all about family and he put them at the top of his list. He and Rosemary spent countless hours travelling to sporting events, 4-H meetings, fairs, parades and extra-curricular activities in support of their children. Ron wore many hats in his lifetime, he was a: Rancher/Cowboy/Farmer, Auctioneer, Master of the Kettle River Grange, member of the American Legion, basketball coach, member of the Cattleman's Association in Ferry County and member of the Orient Community Church. Ron's favorite roll
was being a father and grandfather. Ron was a mild-mannered and even-tempered man that took a lot to get him riled up. He loved watching westerns, Gonzaga basketball and football. Ron loved talking to his kids on the phone even when nothing was being said, he was always so very sensitive towards them. Ron was very well known throughout the community and will be so very sorely missed.
Ron was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, Frank and Roy Arnold Eslick. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary; children, Nathan (Teresa) Eslick, Sara (Ken) Bublitz, Justin (Abby) Eslick; grandchildren, Kayla (Robert) Darnell, Kelsey Eslick, Karlee (Dylan) Eslick, Kaitlyn Eslick, Makayla Fry, Neven Eslick, Aiden Eslick; siblings, Doris Martin, Jacque Delp, Gladys Tolliver, Elaine Meloche, Bruce Eslick, Linda Reineke, Mike Eslick, Debbie Thomas, Patrick Eslick, Kathleen Sisseck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
