Rodney "Rod"
Gerald Hodgson
Jun 7, 1961 — Apr 15, 2022
In Loving Memory
Rodney Gerald "Rod" Hodgson
Rodney "Rod" Gerald Hodgson, age 60, went to be with his Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, after a long battle with illness, on April 15, 2022, at Tekoa Care Center in Tekoa, Washington.
Rod was born on June 7, 1961 to Gerald "Jerry" and Joyce (Morris) Hodgson in Colville, Washington. Rod spent his early years in Kettle Falls, Washington and then moved to the Orin Rice area of Colville in the early 1970's. He spent his boyhood days roaming the woods on the family property, building fence, and helping with the family's small farm.
At the beginning of his senior year of high school, two important events happened in Rod's life: He met his future wife, and more importantly, in God's mercy, he met His Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. Rod married his high school sweetheart, Rosemarie "Rosie" Weinberg on September 6, 1980, just shortly after he graduated from Colville High School. In the years following, four children were born: Tiffany, Rodney Jr., Katie, and Luke.
Rod spent over 40 years working in the logging industry. He began that career as a young teen working at Brauner Lumber, cleaning the mill on the weekends. He continued to work at Brauner Lumber until he began driving logging truck in 1985. Rod was an excellent truck driver with his fast reflexes, hard work ethic, mechanical skills, and exceptional ability to handle a truck. In 1993 he purchased his own self loader and began his self-employment days with Rod Hodgson Trucking. His almost 25-year career of driving truck came to an end when he went to work for Boise Cascade Plywood plant in Kettle Falls in 2009. It was Rod's goal to do the best job he could each day. He worked himself to the position of day shift Press Operator until illness ended his time at Boise Cascade in 2019.
Rod was a quiet man who loved the simple country life and hard work, especially being in the woods cutting firewood and keeping the forest cleaned up, or hiking and hunting. As a young father, he enjoyed family game nights and softball in the backyard during the summer. One of his favorite pastimes was camping and hiking with family. He enjoyed watching the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and in later years NASCAR. Rod enjoyed the Weather Channel and he could always be counted on to give a full weather report to anyone who asked. Rod also spent many years serving the Lord faithfully at First Baptist Church in Colville.
Rod is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rosemarie (Rosie) Hodgson, of Colville, Washington, his daughter, Tiffany King, Colville, Washington, daughter, Katie Strickler, Colville, Washington, son, Luke Hodgson, Havre, Montana, son-in-law,
Kevin King, Colville, Washington, and daughter-in-law, Joy Hodgson, Havre, Montana, siblings: sisters Tina Gleave and husband, Richard Gleave, Lucinda Lauth and husband, Mark Lauth, and brother Courtney Hodgson all of Colville, Washington. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kimberly, Kendra, Theoden, Gavin, Thorin, Turin, Arien, and Viggo, and many other relatives who loved him. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Joyce Hodgson and infant son, Rodney Jr..
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Colville, Washington on April 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted with the arrangements.
