Robert H. Walker

On August 30th, three days after recognizing his 55 ^th wedding anniversary with the love of his life Donna, Robert H. Walker peacefully passed away at home on the Walker Ranch in Hunters. Robert was born on October 10, 1939 in Hunters, Washington to Howard C. Walker and Georganna (Blair). Robert grew up on the family farm with his brother and two sisters. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and spending time outdoors and with family. Robert went to Columbia High School and served in the Army before being called home to run the farm when his father became ill.

Robert married his wife Donna (Dixon) in 1967 and they raised their three daughters Karen Cloninger (Blake), Spokane, Christine Walker-Brittain (Matthew), Chewelah, and Wendy Kuk (Daryl), Chewelah, on the family farm. Like Robert, his daughters attended Columbia High School. Robert's girls remember their dad as the best dancer at weddings, the most joyful recipient of even the simplest gifts, napping with grandbabies, an avid reader, always owning a Border Collie, riding horses, sheering sheep, playing cards with the neighbors and attending every sporting event in which they were involved. Robert loved the outdoors and spent time hunting and fishing with his son-in-laws, nephews and grandkids. Robert enjoyed a lifelong friendship with his brother Jack and throughout the years Robert also became close friends with his wife Donna's five brothers.

Along with his wife and daughters, Robert is survived by his sister Nancy Hinkle (Steve), seven grandchildren Coulter, Bridger, Klarissa (Zack), Christian, Tyler, Haley (Tristan), Harmony and two great-grandchildren Aloha and Ivy. Robert enjoyed large family gatherings with both the Walkers and the Dixons and was able to spend time getting to know and love all of his nieces and nephews Leslie, Susan, Carrie, Doug, Patti, Ann, Mike, Don, Travis, Jennifer, Christopher, Heather, Hillary, Marty, Ralph, Sean and many great nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Georganna and Howard Walker, brother Jack Walker, sister-in-law Connie Walker, sister Mary Jane Holbrook, brother-in law Jack Holbrook, mother and father-in-law Agnes and Walter Dixon, brother-in-law Ron Dixon, nephew Jeff Holbrook, nephew Allen Dixon and great-nephew Matthew Reeves. The family will host a celebration of life at the Fruitland Valley Winery on Sunday, September 18 at 12:00 pm.
