Robert Howard Spencer
Mr. Robert Howard Spencer, age 67, passed away September 9, 2024 in Chewelah, WA. Robert was born February 19, 1957 in Wallace, Idaho to John B. and Betty Jean (Moore) Spencer.
Robert attended Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, WA. He was introduced to Miss Tana Nichols when he was just 14 years old. Tana was 3 years older. Tana would graduate and marry. She and her husband would have three children before ending their marriage. Robert would cross paths with Tana once again. The two would date and eventually go their separate ways. Robert would marry. His marriage ended and he reunited with Tana. This time, they would marry each other and would spend the next 31 years together. Robert's first words to Tana every morning were "I love you." And before retiring for the night, his final words to her would be "I love you."
Robert was a very passionate larger than life man. He loved the Lord deeply. He was a strong advocate for the right to keep and bear arms. And as an expression of his love for Tana, he would say to her, "I will defend you with my life."
Robert was a gifted metal fabricator and woodworker. He was actively involved in mountain man re-enactment. He did blacksmithing, sewing of buckskin and period clothing and tents. He would attend a re-enactment event every September in the Tri-Cities, WA. It was something he looked forward to each year.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John B. Spencer, Jr. and Betty Marie Spencer. He is survived by his wife, Tana; Children – Renee DeHaan of Michigan, Michelle Serian of Cheney, WA and Travis Griffey of Medical Lake, WA; Nine Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren.
A "Celebration of Life" for Robert is set for Saturday, October 12, 2024, 11 am, at Summit Valley Community Church located at 2371 Summit Valley Road in Addy, Washington.
