In Loving Memory
Robert (Bob) Platt
"Fishers of Men".
Bob, age of 74, 14 yr. resident of Curlew, WA. area passed away  on Nov. 9,2021 in Colville, WA. due to complications of COVID-19.
Bob  was born on Aug. 12,1947 in Seattle, WA. the son of Newton Benjamin and Lila Marie (Flechsig) Platt.
Bob  was raised in Seattle, WA. area, where he attended school and graduated in 1965.  He then married Debbie (later-Veltry) and they resided in the Seattle, WA. area.
On March 14,1966  Bob enlisted in the U.S. navy and served overseas in Vietnam.   On June 3, 1969 his destroyer, the U.S.S. Frank E. Evans D.D. 754 was cut in half in collision with the Royal Navy Aircraft carrier the H.M.M.A.S. Melbourne.  74 souls lost to the sea and Bob was one of 5 survivors of the half that went down.  He was honorably discharged and returned to his growing family.  Bob began working as a law officer in King County.  He also attended Seattle Bible College where he completed  his ministerial education and pastored a church in Pomeroy, WA.   The family moved to Spokane, WA. and Bob returned to law enforcement, this time  as a correctional officer.  HIs work in corrections lasted 23 yrs., Where he taught of GOd's  goodness from the book of James.  Many inmates found encouragement and a new path in life from Bob's passion for the Gospel.
Bob married Carol Babcock (Irby) on Sept. 2, 1990 after a 3 month courtship.  Where Carol joined Bob at his home at Nine Mile Falls, WA.
They shared and enjoyed his children and grandkids.  Shared a love of adventure and the outdoors.   Enjoyed some vacations and weekends sleeping in their 18 ft. lodge (Teepee) where they would go to Rendezvous, and they learned more about the pre-1840 history by enacting it.
Fishing mt. lakes, camping, visiting with friends and family. He helped start Westgate Christian School, other churches, helped start the Curlew Food Pantry as president and served on the board for the Ferry Co. Homeless.
They sold their home in Nine Mile Falls, WA. and for the last 14 yrs. lived off grid in peace of nature-helping others when needed,  didn't matter how hot or cold it was he went and shared laughter, life and always God would come up in the conversation.
His conservative views gave him a proud membership to the Ferry Co.  "Wackadoodle Club".  His heart  was compelled to help others, his humorous character gave reason to laugh, love, enjoy life, and his love for God touched countless lives.
He was a wonderful hubby and a Godly man.
He was preceded in death by his brother David Platt with COVID-19, their passing by a day.  He is survived by his wife of 30 yrs. Carol Platt, his daughter Holly (Platt) of Spokane Valley,WA. and his son Eric Platt of Spokane, WA.  4 grandkids and a host of friends.
In reflection of their love and Bob's life Carol  asks that all  Let God lead and we enjoy the ride-amazing things awaits us.  A celebration of life will be scheduled in the June of 2022.
