Robert Ukini Kalua Sr.
April 11, 1938 – January 30, 2026

Robert entered his rest on January 30, 2026, without urgency, without pain and as a final exhale.

Born on April 11, 1938, to John and Irene Kalua. Robert lived a life shaped by aloha—not as a word, but as a way of being: steady, loyal, and quietly devoted to those entrusted to him.

He is survived by his brother John, his beloved wife Sylvia, his son Bobby, and his daughters, Shelly and Loli.

He is also lovingly remembered by his nine grandchildren: Justin, Gavin, Kaylee, Robbie, Koa, Ana, Chad, Molli and Megan. and three great-grandchildren: Rhea, Vyenna and Zavian who knew him as a source of safety, humor, and constant care.

Robert carried many names throughout his life— bradda, son, husband, dad, coach, papa, Plops, PopPops, and friend—and he honored each role with humility and faithfulness.

He led not with force, but with presence; not with noise, but with consistency.

As a coach, he guided with patience and belief.

As a father and husband, he showed love through action and responsibility.

As a papa, he delighted in the generations who followed him.

His presence was grounding, his word dependable, and his care enduring.

Robert's life reflected the spirit of ohana—a deep commitment to family, community, and belonging.

His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the values he passed down, and the quiet strength he modeled every day.

E hoʻomaha me ka maluhia e makuakāne.

May you rest gently in peace dad. May the love you gave return to you, and may your spirit be carried forward by those who walk in your footsteps.

Aloha Oe' Coach, a hui hou—farewell Coach until we meet again.
