In Loving Memory

Robert Lee "Bob" Johnston Jr.

Robert Lee "Bob" Johnston, Jr. was born May 5, 1947 in Long Beach, California to Robert Lee "Johnny," a builder, and Vera June (McLaughlin) Johnston, a homemaker. He was their second child of four, and only son.

Bob designed and built custom homes, as well as the John Wyne Museum in Temecula, CA. For fun, he would sketch potential projects. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed taking his family for country drives and camping trips. He loved exploring abandoned buildings and hunting for rocks and arrowheads. In 2001, Bob met Melissa, the love of his life, and as he called her, his soulmate. They lived in San Luis Obispo County until he retired from the power plant in 2009. The couple relocated to Addy shortly thereafter, and were married. They welcomed their beautiful daughter, Abigail Patricia Johnston, in 2010.

Bob continued to create tirelessly during retirement. Every year, he would spend his spare time at Summit Valley School and Summit Valley Community Church making art projects out of wood for children to take home to their loved ones. He even made more than one for some children if they needed it. He also worked on small construction jobs such as room remodels and additions. He enjoyed hunting for gold and listening to oldies from the 1960s and '70s.

Bob will be remembered as warm, friendly, energetic, talented, creative, hardworking, bright and generous. He loved to laugh and look for humor in life. He was a great dancer and very agile. He loved to have people over for a BBQ. He made the best breakfast burritos and margaritas in the world. He also loved making steak dinners for his loved ones. He was an awesome father and husband, there will never be another one like him. He was the best.

During Bob's last days on earth, he re-dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and had excepted God's will.

Bob was preceded in death by nephew, Joseph Sterling Clark; mother, Vera June Johnston; and father, Robert Lee Johnston. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Melissa; daughters, Heidi Flanagan, Holland Johnston, Abigail Johnston, Emily (Michael) McIntire, Stepheney (Justin) Lane, and Summer Clark; son, Robert Johnston; grandkids, Madeline Lorenzo, Abby Flanagan, Ellie McIntire, and Kyla, Carston, and Kinsley Lane; nephews, Darrell (Debbie) Gage and David (Nicole) Landon; nieces, Cindy Cearia, Christy, Becky, and Addison; sisters, Elaine (Grover) Alby, Lorain Johnston, and Kathy (Ben) Otten.

A service held in his honor will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 at Summit Valley Community Church, 2371 Summit Valley Road, Addy, WA.
