Arden
In Loving Memory
Robert Kenneth "Bob" Hobbs
Robert Kenneth "Bob" Hobbs, age 86, passed away after a long and courageous battle at his Arden, WA home with his loving wife by his side on September 4, 2023. Bob was born on December 3, 1936 in Horton, Wyoming to Robert William and Mildred (Bernette) Rawhouser.
Bob and his family would relocate to Green Bluff in the early 1940's, where he would spend the remainder of his childhood. He lived life to the fullest, serving in the National Guard and then working for the railroad for 39 years. His wrecker crew were his band of brothers who he spoke fondly of until his passing.
Throughout his career with Great Northern / Burlington Northern, Bob was known as a man who led by example, and always made sure that his crew was safe and thorough. He would never ask his wrecker crew to do something he wouldn't do himself, and if ever safety was a concern, he would put himself in harms way well before asking his men to do anything he would consider dangerous.
Following retirement, Bob and his wife Patsy would relocate to a 900 sq ft cabin in Republic, which they would expand to a 3700 sq ft mountain retreat. When Bob wasn't busy helping his neighbors and friends care for their properties, Bob was either enjoying time out on various watercraft with Patsy or his step-son, Jim, or using his welding and woodworking skills to build useful items, from a four-horse slant trailer to quilt racks and a horseshoe Christmas tree for his wife, Patsy.
He was a friend to everyone he met, always willing to help them in any way they needed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Bert Hobbs; his sister, Wanda Harris; and his daughter, Teri Hobbs.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy; his son, Rob; his step-son, Jim; his daughter, Cheyenne; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous friends and family members who will miss him greatly.
A memorial service for Bob will be announced at a later date. Please visit the online memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is honored to be entrusted with Bob's care and cremation.
