In Loving Memory

Richard David "Dick" Just

Richard David "Dick" Just, age 80, passed away suddenly at his Colville home on November 29, 2022.  Dick was born on January 25, 1942 to David and Luella (Herman) Just in Chicago, Illinois.

While his early years were spent in Illinois, Dick would eventually find his way to Idaho, where he would begin attending the University of Idaho.  While attending forestry camp in McCall, Idaho, he would lay eyes on the love of his life, Mary Ann Herrick, and he was immediately smitten.  He first spotted her bringing her laundry to the laundromat, and since it was laundry day, and Mary was running low on clean clothing, she ran over in her two-piece bathing suit.  The two began a whirlwind romance, getting hitched on August 11, 1962 before he had finished university.  After his graduation from the University of Idaho, he began a successful and long spanning career with Boise Cascade Timber and Wood, going on to retiring as the N.E. Region manager.

Throughout the 60 years they were wed, Dick and Mary shared a love that was nothing short of beautiful.  They would always find time to laugh together, and Dick never passed up an opportunity to tell Mary how beautiful she is.  Dick loved the holidays, and the pair would host holidays with the entire crew, where there was never a shortage of good food, drinks, gifts, and laughs from all involved.  He was the most generous father and grandpa during the holidays, dispensing advice, gifts, and most importantly, love for all.

Dick loved fishing, and he and Mary made annual fishing trips to Alaska each summer.  He loved card games, especially bridge, looking forward to reading the bridge column in the daily paper.  He was also an avid golfer and reader.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, David and Luella Just, as well as his brother, Drew Just.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Just; his children, Kathy (Gary) Werner of Meridian, ID, Adam (Theresa) Just of Damascus, OR, Rachel Knight (Tedd McDonald) of Fallon, Nevada; and Anne (Scott) McMillan of Martindale, TX; his grandchildren, Heather Werner, Brandon and Kendra Scholl, Joshua Werner, Tyler and Jordan Knight, Chandler and Natasha Knight, Bailey (Amy) Knight, Darby McMillan and Taylor Ring, Harrison McMillan, Rosalie McMillan, Ashley Just (Oliver Mathrani), and Zachary Just; and his great-grandchildren, Edwin Werner, Manase Hershey, Levi, Cody, Lily and Zoey Knight.
