Raymond Dwane Stoddard, age 90, a longtime resident of Kettle Falls, WA, passed away on September 28, 2024 in Spokane, WA.  Raymond was born on February 15, 1934 in Newberry, MI the son of Harold and Naomi (Browning) Stoddard.

Raymond's early years were in and around the communities of Newberry and Detroit, MI.  He completed high school in 1952 and then entered the U.S. Airforce.  Raymond served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged.  Following his honorable discharge, Ray began a family.  He then moved to Washington State where he worked in Lincoln, WA as a tugboat operator for the local lumber mill.  In the early 1970's, he relocated to Kettle Fall, WA and continued working on a tugboat for Columbia Navigation.  He also worked for the carpenter's union and helped in the construction of large projects throughout Northeast Washington, including the construction of the Kettle Falls High School.  In 1983, Ray began working for the City of Kettle Falls and retired in 2000.

He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hiking and rock hounding with friends.  In the winter months he would read avidly.  Raymond spent many hours on the sidelines where he cheered on his kids as they competed in sports.  He had a heart for his canine companions and was a friend to countless people.   His great sense of humor, outgoing character and kindness were traits he shared with those he met and those he knew.

Raymond is preceded in death by his son, Dean Stoddard; two brothers, Elmer and Clifford and his two sisters, Virginia and Gloria.

He is survived by his family and friends including; Laurie Stoddard of Kettle Falls, WA; sons, Robert Stoddard of Kettle Falls, WA, Bradly Stoddard of Lynnwood, WA; Damon Stoddard (Debbie) of Woodinville, WA, Danny Stoddard of Grand Coulee, WA; daughters, Debra Stoddard of Spokane, WA, D'Ann Stoddard of Seattle, WA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

No services are scheduled at this time.  Memorial contributions may be given the Colville Valley Animal Sanctuary.
