In Loving Memory

Priscilla Sandy Cooksey

Priscilla Sandy Cooksey, age 74, passed away with her loving husband and sister by her side in Colville, Washington on September 6, 2022, following a prolonged series of health battles. Priscilla was born on August 27, 1948 in Manhattan, New York.

Priscilla was proud native of the Northeast. Her family, which included her younger sister Lisa, relocated to Connecticut when she was seven years old, where her father built a successful Volkswagon dealership. Strong willed and independent from a young age, Priscilla left home to set out on her own after high school. Priscilla had several lines of work throughout her adulthood, including working for a telephone company, being an excellent waitress for many years, working as a video store attendant, and helping children at a daycare center, which brought her the greatest joy.

Priscilla would go on to meet the love of her life, Ronald "Ron" Cooksey on Whidbey Island, and the two were wed on August 29, 1994. As Ron travelled frequently for work and would often be on location for 12-24 months, he and Priscilla chose to move numerous times rather than be apart. The couple lived in several towns and cities across California, Colorado, Connecticut, Missouri, and Arkansas, where they enjoyed playing cribbage, line dancing, and attending church. They also delighted in riding on Ron's motorcycle along the backroads of Arkansas. Priscilla loved to feel the rush as they raced down the roads, always trying to get Ron to go faster. After retiring and settling down in Colville, Washington, they continued furthering their education taking online college classes. In addition, they attended church and learned how to take life easy.

Priscilla was a skilled artist in many mediums, including drawing, painting, writing, singing, sewing and knitting. She loved searching for the perfect gifts to give to family and friends, always wrapping them so beautifully that they were almost works of art on their own. Priscilla's love for all things aesthetically pleasing carried over into how she presented herself, always ensuring that she was well dressed before going anywhere, even if she ran behind schedule. She was also an avid learner, expanding her knowledge both through college classes and self-education, with history being a subject she was particularly passionate about. She was, above all, a fierce lover of animals, providing a home to many cats and dogs that had either been abandoned or surrendered to her, as everyone knew the special place they held in her heart.

Priscilla is survived by her loving husband, Ronald "Ron" Cooksey; her sister, Lisa (George) Schuerman; her brother, Jack Eberly; her son, Andrew Cooksey; her grandchildren, Chance and Isabella Cooksey; and her niece, Sierra Eberly.
