In Loving Memory
Patricia Anne Mahony
Patricia Anne Mahony, age 71, passed away with her loving husband by her side on November 14, 2021 in Addy, Washington. Patricia was born in Wichita, Kansas to Arthur and Louise (Ayers) Bowers on February 7, 1950.
Patricia (Pat) and her family relocated throughout Eastern Oregon and Washington ending up in Wilbur, WA early on in her childhood, and she would begin attending school at Wilbur Elementary. Patricia would graduate from high school here before relocating to Spokane, WA in 1970, where she would begin attending Spokane Community College for data entry. She worked at numerous companies in Spokane (Spokesman Review, Bureau of Mines, Cominco American, to name of few)
While working in Spokane she met her previous husband, Stan Elwonger. Patricia would meet the love of her life, Michael (Mike) Mahony, because Stan was a military member and died in a motorcycle accident. The military assigns another military member to take care of affairs of the deceased. Mike was assigned Stan's case. Once the case was resolved, Mike asked Pat out on a date. Eighteen months after Stan's death, two would be wed in Spokane, WA on March 19, 1982.
Pat followed Mike in his military career. As such the couple would relocate to RAF Chicksands in Bedforshire, UK, the following year. During their time here, Patricia and Michael were blessed to the ability to travel throughout Europe and British Isles. At one point, Patricia was able to take a solo trip to visit Russia. Next assignment brought them to Dayton, Ohio, so Mike could attend the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). Pat kept busy by working in data entry for numerous businesses and helping Mike write his thesis. Upon graduation from AFIT, Mike was assigned to Norton AFB, CA. Three years later they would relocate to Bedford, MA. Mike separated from the Air Force here (1992) and took a job as a contractor in Los Angeles, California This time they settled down in La Habra. In 1995, they were reassigned to Albuquerque, NM., where they worked and lived until Mike retired in 2014.
Since Pat followed Mike all over the world, upon retirement the couple moved back home to Pat's home state (Washington). They bought a farm in Addy, WA, where they leased the tillable land to a neighboring farmer. The couple with the help of Pat's brother (Bob) and his wife (Sandie) raised feeder steers and pigs for self-consumption. Pat also would help Sandie raise her American Cream Draft horses.
Upon return to Washington, Pat became active in American Cream Draft Association, Camas Valley Grange (Springdale, WA), Springdale Women's Club, Springdale Frontier Days Association and the Christians United for Israel organization.
During all the military assignments they continued their travels, travelling throughout the US and Canada, St. Croix, and Aruba. She loved to travel by various modes of travel. She traveled by train in Russia (St Petersburg to Moscow), Europe (Orient Express), British Isles (London to Edinburgh-numerous times) and US (LA to Chicago & Fairbanks to Anchorage). The couple took back to back cruises from Seward Alaska to Vancouver, British Columbia, then from Vancouver to LA. During these travels, Patricia would get to try parasailing at Lake Tahoe and off the coast of Aruba. She also rode in hot air balloons in Del Mar and Albuquerque NM..
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Louise Bowers and her son Todd. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Michael Mahony of Addy WA, and her brother, Robert (Sandie) Bowers of Addy, WA.
