Patricia Anne Abbott

Patricia Anne Abbott who passed away at age 96 on April 16, 2024 after a long and adventurous life. Born on June 21, 1927 in Canton, Ohio to Albert and Kathleen Abbott.

She graduated from Ohio State University in 1945 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She then taught public school in San Bernardino, California, Albuquerque, New Mexico and San Diego, California. In 1952, she was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Air Force. Then she began six years of duty as an Air Intelligence Officer with the Strategic Air Command. Her service included an overseas tour in England during the Cold War. After military service, in 1958 she settled in the State of Washington where she called home for the rest of her life. Following one year at the University of Washington taking personnel management courses, she resumed her civilian career as an administrator with the Kelly Girls. She then joined Boeing in 1966 as a technical writer. Next, she worked at Safeco Insurance company from 1971 where she remained for 19 years as a personnel manager. Following retirement from Safeco, she worked part-time for Recreational Equipment in Bellevue, Washington as a camping specialist, utilizing skills developed over many years of camping and hiking. She moved from Seattle in 1994 and bought property in Colville, Washington. She built a house that she occupied for the remainder of her life. Those who knew Pat will recall her for five things. Her independent spirit. Pat's fondness of hiking and the outdoors. Her love of her many dogs. Her tireless service at St. John's Episcopal Church as Lay Reader, Lay Eucharistic Minister, Lay Preacher, and Liturgical Coordinator. Pat's pride her military service.

She was supported in her closing years by her nephews John MacQuigg, Robert MacQuigg, Terrence Abbott, grandniece, Britt MacQuigg, her caregivers from Providence and helpful neighbors in Colville.

There will be no local funeral service. As a proud veteran, Pat will be laid to rest in the Santa Fe National veterans cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
