Obituary

Nikki Lynn Kaste né Faber
September 15th 1960 - March 26th 2024

Nikki entered heaven's gates on Tuesday March 26th 2024. She fought a short but courageous battle with heart failure and pancreatic cancer.

Nikki Lynn was born September 15th 1960 to Nick and Bev Faber in Tonasket, Washington. Bev says Nikki was a sweet, beautiful baby girl. Nikki was the fourth of five children. When she was four, her father moved the entire family to Laramie, Wyoming where he received his masters and doctorate. Nikki graduated from North Central High School, Whitworth University and later Gonzaga University for her own masters in education. She loved teaching kids and giving each of them the attention they needed.

Nikki enjoyed playing stand up bass and traveling with the Continental Singers. Later she would meet the love of her life, a strapping Norwegian logger named Robin Kaste. They lived in the house they built in Kettle Falls for almost 30 years. In 1995 they were thrilled to welcome Hannah into the world. Not only were Nikki and Hannah mother and daughter. They were best friends, bonding over the good and the hard times.

Nikki was well known among family for her projects she would create for the children, mainly the crafts done at the cabin in the summer. The latest generation of nieces have bedroom walls proudly displaying these thought out crafts.

Nikki had many struggles of her own but never backed down from a challenge. She has made a difference in many lives through mentoring and friendship. Anytime we see purple, sparkles or butterflies we are reminded of the joy she would do her best to manifest even during the darkest of times.

Nikki is survived by her daughter Hannah, mother Beverly, sisters Edde and Jody, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephew. She has been proceeded in heaven by her husband Robin, father Nick, sister Resa and brother Nick.

There will be a celebration of life on Monday June 3rd at 5 pm at Kettle Falls Community Church followed by coffee and pastries. June 3rd was the date of her 35th year of sobriety. Per Nikki's request please wear colors or sparkles. If you would like to honor her, Nikki hoped people would send flowers to those in nursing homes or assisted living because 'everyone deserves a reason to smile.'
