Obituary

Nancy Harriet Lariviere (Sullivan) passed away July 22, 2022 in her home. Her family was with her until the end. Nancy was born September 22, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan. At 17, she met the "Crazy Frenchman," Richard Larivere,  who swept her off her feet. They were married and started their family. While living in Detroit, Rich and Mary were born. The new family decided to move to Richard's hometown of Timmins, Ontario, Canada where Margie and Mike were born.  When they moved back to Detroit, Brenda was born. Florida called to them in 1969 so the family moved there.  After visiting the area, the family moved to Kettle Falls in 1974. Raising five very independent kids was sometimes difficult but her love for her family kept it all together. Nancy was selfless when it came to family and friends. Those who were privileged to call her friend know this well. The love she gave was enormous and her passing, our loss, makes the world a lesser place.

Nancy's family is: her life's love and husband Richard - son Rich (wife Petra), with their two children Patrick and Sarina (husband Jordan), and their children Juniper and Asher - daughter Mary (husband Chris Howell), and their two children son Nick and daughter Amber (deceased) her children Gabe and Isabel, - daughter Margie (husband Rich, deceased) - son Mike (wife Beth) with their two children David (wife Emma) and Nikki - daughter Brenda with her children Jake Linton, (wife Holly) with their children Nora and Oliver, Brian Linton (partner LeeAnne) with her daughter Ashley, and Tim Linton (wife Chloe).

The best single word to describe Nancy Lariviere is family. Family meant everything to her. We could fill a book with true stories that would make you laugh out loud, weep with sadness, praise God, and curse the world. Those are our memories of her. This beautiful person who had so much in her life only needed her family. Family trips packed into a car and traveling a couple thousand miles was not unusual nor was moving her family two thousand miles. Nancy truly loved people. Whether being recognized for donating blood, volunteering at the Kettle Falls library and local schools, or simply having friends over, she was always ready with friendship and love. She really shone in 1977 when she and Rich bought the Bulldog Inn, a restaurant in Kettle Falls. She was the backbone of the business that they owned until 1993. Nancy treated all of her customers like they were her good friends, and most of them were. All those who remember "The Bulldog" can attest to that. Rich and Nancy retired to the home they built outside of Colville in 1995. In recent times, the joy in her daily life was spending time with her "Honey," Rich, playing pinochle every morning with coffee, going for long drives in their car, and making food together. Nancy will always be remembered by her loved ones, in every shoot the moon hand, three bean salad, whole family argument, long walk chats, and so much more. She lived each day thinking about what she could do for others and then doing so. She leaves a legacy of kindness for her family and friends to carry forward.
