Michael Thomas
Moore
May 26, 1970 — Apr 29, 2025
Kettle Falls
Michael "Mikey" Thomas Moore, age 54, a 33-year resident of the Colville and Kettle Falls communities, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in Spokane, Washington, due to complications of heart failure. Mikey was born on May 26, 1970, in Anaheim, CA, the only son of Thomas Garfield and Nancy Jo (Cunningham) Moore.
Mikey's earliest years were spent in Orange County, CA, where he and his family enjoyed residing until 1979 when his family moved inland to Riverside, CA. There he attended La Sierra High School. Following high school, Mikey continued residing in the Inland Empire region of California with his aunt Susie before relocating to Colville, WA in 1992. In an attempt to remove him from the influences of "friends" going down the wrong path, he was invited to stay with his parents' best friends, Billy & Denise. Michael worked first at Vaagen Brothers Lumber and then for Stimpson Lumber for several years. He began struggling with drug use again, and both family and loved ones tried to help, but eventually he was without the ability to support himself, and finally without a home.
July 25, 2016, Michael rededicated his life to Jesus, his merciful and forgiving Savior, making a decision to leave the drugs behind and walk forward in newness of life. Clean and forgiven - body, mind and soul. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
In October of 2016, he exchanged vows with Tina, and they began a marriage founded in the love of God and for each other. They loved and understood each other well, and together in faith, with family and friends support, Mike and Tina shared nine years together.
With his great love for people, and his colorful life journey that led him from darkness to light, from homelessness to leading Bible studies, this allowed him to give God all the glory for the wholeness he now had. Reading and studying his Bible and prayer changed him from the inside out. Living out his purpose, Mikey shared the hope and power of Jesus with others regularly.
For the past several years, Mikey worked as a handyman. His jobs led to many long-term friendships. He enjoyed his work as a builder on projects of all sizes, but was forced to retire at an early age, due to a decline in his heart health.
Mikey's laugh was hearty and contagious and could fill any room. His "amens" were heard from the sound booth at the back of the church as the pastor preached from the pulpit. Mikey loved and valued his family and also had passion for his well-recognized run-down green truck, and a holey, stained, ripped sweatshirt. He enjoyed serving the community and church via plowing snow, and he did that, even as his health was in decline. He was also an unwavering Raiders fan, enjoyed NASCAR and was rarely seen without a Pepsi by his side. Michael's arms were always open wide to give the best hugs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Garfield Moore on November 1, 2024.
Michael is survived by his wife, Tina Moore; his mother, Nancy Moore; older sister, Shelly Moore all of Kettle Falls, WA and younger sister, Jodie Glover, (Patrick) and their children, Hannah and Shane of York, SC; Tina's daughter, Alisha; aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and countless friends.
In the final hours, we learned of a blessing from our tragedy; Michael was an organ donor. We quickly found out that he was a match and able to give extended life to someone that needed a liver. Also, the possibility of helping two other recipients with his kidneys! He would've been so happy to know this news.
A Celebration of Life service for Michael will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Calvary Chapel of Northeast Washington, 575 B Highway, 395 N, Kettle Falls, WA 99141. Memorial contributions may be given to the Union Gospel Mission. Please sign the online guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted with the arrangements.
We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
