Obituary

On Sunday September 11 th , 2022, Ruth Johnson passed away at the age of 91.

Ruth was born in Virginia and raised in the mountains of North Carolina on Buck Hill where she learned love, hard work, and dedication to family from her dad. There she married her neighbor, David Johnson, who lovingly gave her the nickname "Rooster." Together the two moved to the mountains of the North Cascades in Skagit County to build a family. She lived up to her nickname and was known for her stubborn and fiery personality. Those traits combined with her warm compassion and witty humor, helped her raise 3 wild boys into fine men. Ruth worked at the Newhalem and Diablo cookhouses hosting Seattle City Light tours. She ran a tight ship there teaching many young kids the value of a hard work ethic. All her life she loved to play card games and bingo. She could win any game, even in her later years with failing eyesight. When playing against her it was best to stay out of arm's length of her if you were winning. Among the many joys in her long life, she adored the Christmas season with Barbary May, planting beautiful flower gardens with Larry, playing card games with Kirk, and watching the Seattle Seahawks with AJ.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence, mother, Beatrice, and husband, David. She is survived by her three pride and joys, David, Lonnie, and Dan, three beautiful daughter in laws, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

While we will all miss Rooster greatly, we take comfort knowing she is reunited with her beloved dad whom she cherished so dearly.
