Marjorie passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023 in Pullman, WA. Marjorie was born July 4, 1940 in Seattle, WA to Maxwell and Ena (Ohlrich) Lightburn. The Lightburns lived in Buckley, WA where they owned Lightburn's Cash Market grocery store where Marjorie helped out growing up. She graduated from White River High School in Buckley in 1958. Marjorie attended Western Washington State College and Washington State University, receiving a degree in Education to become an elementary school teacher. She married her husband of 58 years, Theodore (Ted) Kramer of Auburn, WA September 3, 1960. Ted and Marjorie started their teaching careers in the Bethel School District, then moved to Colville in 1968. Marjorie taught one year of Kindergarten in Colville, then 21 years teaching 5th and 6th grade students. Ted and Marjorie retired in 1993.
Marjorie was active with Delta Kappa Gamma teachers' sorority, was a 4-H and Girl Scout Leader, an active member of the Colville Community Church, and volunteered many hours with the Colville Seniors Center, receiving an "Outstanding Senior Citizen" recognition from Member of Congress Cathy McMorris Rodgers.
Ted and Marjorie enjoyed 48 years on their rural acreage outside of Colville in the North Basin, and Marge especially enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, photography, birds and wildlife of all kinds, camping, travelling, time spent at their Cedar Lake cabin, and spending time with friends and family. Marjorie was the embodiment of love. She never missed a family event no matter the occasion. Any reflection of Marjorie shined brightly upon her loving nature. Her joy of Christmas overflowed with decorations, trays of cookies, jams and Christmas Cards. She nurtured anyone she encountered, no matter their age, with unending support, presence and compassion.
She is survived by sister Maxine Gruber of Federal Way, WA, brother Richard (Dick) Lightburn and sister in law Barbara of Buckley,WA, daughter Colleen Kramer (Gary LeRose) of Fruitvale, BC, daughter Gail Nash of Seattle, WA, granddaughter Kelsey Nash of Seattle, WA, granddaughter Bailey (Nick) Baker of Seattle, WA, and great granddaughter Penelope Baker, sister in law and brother in law Karen and Gordy Struve of Gilbert, AZ and brother in law Mike Kramer of Puyallup, WA, as well as, many beloved nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and former students.
She was predeceased in death by her lifelong love, husband Ted, by her parents Maxwell and Ena Lightburn, sister Mary Lightburn, brother Ronald Lightburn and sister-in-law Carol Lightburn.
The Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 29th, 2023 at the Colville Community Church. Marjorie will be laid to rest beside her husband, Ted, at the Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville, WA.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Marjorie's name to The Nature Conservancy.
Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted with the arrangements.
