Obituary

Marion "Jack" Lee Stinson, age 68, a resident of Colville, WA passed away on September 10, 2023 in Colville surrounded by those whom he loved.  Jack was born on December 22, 1954 in Riverside, CA the son of Charles LaVerne and Hazel Nadine (Martin) Stinson.

Jack was raised in the communities of Colville, Chewelah and Spangle, WA.  He attended the Upper Columbia Academy Seventh Day Adventist School in Spangle for several years as well as school in Chewelah, WA.  He and his siblings were raised together for a time in the Grouse Creek area south of Chewelah.  Jack attended high school in Colville, WA and then entered the U.S. Marines Corps. where he served for many year including two years overseas in Mount Fuji.  He was honorably discharged and joined his sister, Carol in the Southern California.  He rode thousands of California miles on his motorbike during that time and enjoyed the freedom of the road.  He continued "rollin-on" through the years as a long-haul truck driver traveling throughout the country.  He health gradually declined as his diabetes began to affect his physical abilities and he eventually left the road to be close to family in 2013.  He moved back to Colville and surrounded himself with family and their many get-togethers over food and holiday festivities.

Jack had a voice that could be heard across the football field, wrestling mat and/or basketball court as he cheered on the numerous athletes in the family.  He rarely missed a home game and loved being around all the people.  Jack was country strong from his boots to his music.  He lived his life for his country and playing in its beautiful terrain.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed firewood gathering, fishing trips, going for rides from the peak to the  valleys of the surrounding mountains. He anchored in family barbeques, seasonal gatherings and holiday traditions because family was the most important love of his life as well as spoiling his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was proud of his very large family and those he has been able to get back in contact with to create and share memories over the last years of his life.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hazel Stinson; and brothers, Dwayne and Franklin Stinson.

He is survived by his siblings, Loral in Kansas, Charles in Kansas, Esther in Colorado, Sherryl in Colville, Charles in Colorado, Gary in Colville, Carroll in Colville; girlfriend, Cynthia Pitt of Colville; children, James (Ashley) and their six children of Colville, Dakota (Johnaley and their two children for Colorado, Dillion of Nebraska and Revecca (Brad) Leach and their one child of Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family all over the United States.
