Colville
In Loving Memory
Marilyn Connie Lundgren
Ms. Marilyn Connie Lundgren, age 88, passed away October 3, 2024 in Colville, WA. Marilyn was born November 23, 1935 in Hunting Beach, CA to Herman and Mildred Kortje.
A country girl from the start, Marilyn was reared on a chicken farm in Cudahy, CA. She ran about barefoot. Her horse, Dolly, was her best friend. She would have Dolly for a very long time. When she did part with Dolly, she went to visit at her new home. Dolly quickly recognized her.
Marilyn was a deeply religious woman. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses church. Her faith was her stronghold.
Marilyn was a collector of miniatures – teapots, inkwells, locks and more. Her son, Paul, made shelves for her to display her collections. She loved to look at them.
In addition to collecting, she was an accomplished seamstress. Marilyn was an award-winning quilter. She crocheted cut work pieces and afghans. She used patterns from years ago. And, if that wasn't enough, she beaded jewelry! Marilyn was an artist!
Like so many people, Marilyn was known to have a sweet tooth. It was not unusual for her to hide or stash her favorites throughout her home. One might have the pleasure of discovering one of her stashes when looking for something else.
Marilyn lived in Prescott, AZ for many years. Three years ago, she moved to Colville to be with her son, Paul. They enjoyed drives through the mountains and along Lake Roosevelt where they would stop and have a picnic. Paul would take her to Ronnie D's every Thursday for a chocolate shake, French fries, and a hamburger. On Fridays, they would go to the Farmhouse Bakery for scones and cinnamon rolls. Evenings were spent walking throughout her neighborhood with Paul and his friend Cheryl. Recently, she would sit on the deck and watch the quail run about the back yard.
Marilyn's heart was pure at its core. She never did anyone wrong…EVER! She was one of the kindest people on the earth. Although life hadn't always been easy for her – she was now free to live as she wished. "Mama, you're free now!"
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents and husband Jack; She is survived by her son, Paul; daughter, Diane; five grandchildren – Jessica, John, Jacob, Joshua, and Chris; and 12 great grandchildren.
