In Loving Memory

Marcus Henderson

Our beloved father, Marcus Henderson passed away January 22, 2025, at the age of 80, joining the love of his life, Lanaa Henderson. He was born April 30, 1944, in Tonasket, WA. to Charles and Jeneva (Borders) Henderson.  He was raised in a thoughtful and loving home with his three siblings: Bertie, Wayne, and Chris.

Marcus served his country in the US Army and fought in the Vietnam War.  While there he served as a helicopter mechanic.  He later developed his skills as a machinist.  This became very helpful while working on the family ranch and furthered his career in life being a Millwright/Supervisor at Boise Cascade.  If something broke, he could either design and build a new part or create something that would work until the broken part could be properly replaced.  Marcus was a perfectionist in all he did – work, music, and rodeo.

Marcus met Lanaa (Wilson) in 1967 where they dated for three months and decided to get married. They started another chapter in their lives together, raising three children: Troy, Shaun, and Tauni.

He said what he said and meant what he said. Marcus was the epitome of a Good Cowboy – Respectable, a good hand, a hard worker, and one of the best guitarists in the area, joining his father-in-law in the band playing in local establishments and granges. He was a man of character and principle. His love, wisdom, and strength will continue to guide us, and his memory is a source of comfort and inspiration.

As a young man, Marcus was the #1 and #2 Bare Back Rider in the State for seven years running. He was known for wearing white shirts. He told people that he never got bucked off so his wife Lanaa wouldn't have to wash his shirts!

He was fishing and hunting with his boys when he wasn't working or playing music. He was the number one man in his daughter's life and his strength and wisdom will continue to guide them. His children will miss his presence, sound advice and guidance, his wisdom, and his smile. Even though he's gone, his spirit lives on in those he touched, and his legacy will always be a part of us.

Marcus was not one to dwell in the past but one to look ahead.  He would say, "Your windshield is bigger than your rearview mirror."  We will keep looking forward – to the time we are all reunited!

Marcus is survived by his three children: Troy Henderson of Kettle Falls (Yvette Sweitzer of

Colville), Shaun Henderson (Sonja) of Kettle Falls, Tauni Henderson of Colville (Scott Lien of Kettle Falls). Siblings; Wayne Henderson (Carlene) of Spokane, Bertie Henderson of Spokane, and Chris Henderson (Shelly) of Coulee City. Grandchildren; Marcus Henderson, Morgan Henderson, Joey Hastings, Darci Hart, Shanaa Henderson, Camden Henderson, Amy, Ryan and Charles Phillips, Dakoda and Payeton Rogalette, and Daulten Henderson.

Great-Grandchildren; Madison Henderson, Gage and Berkley Hastings, Ruby and Jack Hart, Kyla and Trenton Leininger,

Jaxon Burns, Autum Holford, Carter and Kierra Doering, and Kian Henderson. And many loving numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service is planned for Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, WA.  Marcus will be laid to rest with Lanaa in the Meyers Falls Cemetery in Kettle Falls, WA.  immediately following the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Please visit the online memorial website and sign his guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. Danekas Funeral Chapel & Crematory have been entrusted with his care.

The family will hold a celebration of life on April 12th, 2025, to laugh, love, raise a glass, and share the beautiful memories of Mark and Lanaa's journey home.
