Lynette Renee
Coleman
Mar 24, 1971 — Dec 30, 2025
Valley
Lynette Renee Coleman, age 54, a lifelong presence in the Chewelah and Valley communities, passed away on December 30, 2025, following a courageous battle with renal cell carcinoma.
Lynette was born on March 24, 1971, in Moses Lake, Washington, to Arthur and Marilyn (Pierpoint) Grubb. She spent her early childhood in Moses Lake, where she began school, before moving with her family to Chewelah at the age of eight. There, she completed her primary and secondary education and graduated from Jenkins High School in 1989.
Following high school, Lynette moved to Spokane to attend the Dental Assistant program at Spokane Community College, earning her associate degree in 1991. Her career and sense of adventure took her first to Alaska, where she worked as a dental assistant for Native Health Services. After a brief return home, Lynette headed to Maui, Hawaii, where she worked as a dental assistant by day and a baker by night. It was in the bakery that she developed the baking skills she would later share with her family, friends, and community.
In 1996, Lynette returned home to Chewelah, where she fell in love with her longtime friend, Joey Coleman. They were married on August 8, 1998, and soon welcomed their son, Dominick. Lynette devoted herself to her family, spending time at home after Dominick's birth before returning to work as a dental assistant. She worked at Gentle Dentistry in Chewelah for the next 20 years, later taking a brief break from dentistry to work at the local NAPA store, where she spent five years helping customers with their automotive needs. In 2017, Lynette returned to dental assisting one final time, joining the Veterans Administration in Spokane. It was during this same period that she was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma and began treatment.
Lynette had a passion for school sports and was a familiar and unwavering presence in the bleachers. Whether home or away, she was there—missing only two games from Dominick's T-ball days through his college years and into his coaching career. She traveled to Aberdeen, Washington, seventeen weekends in a row to support Dominick and his baseball team. Lynette was also well known for her incredible cooking, which she made for sporting fundraisers and to spoil her boys, her family, and her many friends.
She loved sharing life with others, never allowing loneliness a place in her world. Lynette was fiercely independent, loyal to a fault, resilient, hilarious, and genuine to her core. She turned road trips into adventures, everyday moments into joy, and wrapped everyone around her in love.
Lynette was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Joe, Russell, and Arthur "Babe" Grubb.
She is survived by her husband, Joey Coleman, of Valley, Washington; her son, Dominick "Dom" Coleman, of Valley, Washington; her brothers, Richard "Spike" Grubb of Grand Coulee, Washington, Larry Grubb of Mukilteo, Washington, and Mike Grubb (Lisa) of Tampa, Florida; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a vast circle of friends who loved her deeply.
A memorial gathering will be held at Jump Off Joe Lake once the weather turns to summer. Memorial contributions may be made toward the treatment and cure of renal cell carcinoma. Friends and family are invited to visit the online memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com.
