Lyla Lee Richardson
Lyla Lee Richardson was surrounded by her children as she joined her heavenly father on May 3, 2022 in Addy, Washington. She was born September 30, 1924 in Oelrichs, South Dakota to George and Ann Barton. She was second to the youngest of twelve children. The family moved to Colville area in 1935 and lived on Williams Lake Road. She graduated from Colville High School. She and her husband Frank of 63 years bought some property on Marble Valley Basin Road in 1955 where she lived until her death.
Lyla worked in Colville Bakery, Barmans Department Store, Ole King Coles Restaurant, Smith's Café, Fonks 5 – 10 Dime Store (all closed businesses in Colville); Washington State at Spruce Canyon Youth Camp and Department of Social and Health Services. In the 1970's and 1980's, she owned a child care center and an ice cream shop in Addy. She and her husband Frank, owned and operated the former Hilltop Restaurants in Addy, WA in the 1980's and 1990's
Lyla enjoyed sewing, bowling, gardening and cooking. Her specialties were baking and making desserts. She was renowned for her cinnamon rolls. Lyla was a member of the Addy Grange, 4-H Builders Club, Stump Ranchers (horse riding and pinochle cards), Addy's Lady Pinochle Group and the Good Sam RV Travel Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings and her husband Frank
Lyla is survived by her sister, Loretta McBreen, age 99, Portland, Oregon; her seven children, Anna (Tim) Machado, Chewelah, WA, Jim Richardson, Chewelah, WA, Bart Richardson, Vancouver, WA, Tom (Cheryl) Richardson, Chewelah, WA., Dea (Ken) Duffus, Eagle River, AK., Rex (MaryJo) Richardson, Addy, WA., Jan (Charles) Swingley, Lenore, ID. Her greatest joy was here children, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Lyla will be held 1:00p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022 at Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Chewelah. All who knew her and were touched by her presence are welcome.
Memorial contributions in Lyla's honor can be made to the Shriner's Hospital of Spokane.
