Lucinda Sue
Alexander
Aug 15, 1948 — Sep 2, 2021
Evans
Lucinda "Cindy" Sue Alexander, age 73, a 50-year resident of the Colville and Evans areas of Washington, passed away on Sept. 2, 2021, in Ellensburg, Washington.
She was born on Aug. 15, 1948, in Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of Lewis Edwin and Frances (Hughbanks) Robinson.
Cindy moved with her family to California where she was raised and graduated from the Port Hueneme High School in 1966.
While driving with friends off base, she caught the eye of a young sailor, Ken Alexander. He pursued her attention and won! They wed on Aug. 18, 1967, at the Silver Bells Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ken then deployed a final time to Vietnam and Cindy stayed with her folks until his return. They then moved to Redmond, Washington, where she focused her time on the needs of the home as they began a family.
Their first daughter passed in Oct. of 1970 at 18 months. Their marriage grew in strength through this hardship and Cindy returned to work outside the home at Safeway in produce.
On Memorial Day weekend of 1971, she and Ken moved to the Colville area. They embraced an opportunity to continue the growth of their family through the adoption of Larry and Lisa in July of 1973. They became good friends with the Johnsons and soon became actively involved in the Johnson Christian School.
Cindy and Ken watched their children flourish at Johnson Christian School. Cindy offered her time, but most importantly her heart, to the school, the generations of kids she watched grow and the needs that were around her.
She never fully retired as her passion drew her back every year to support Johnson Christian school in any way possible.
She loved God and her family with a devotion to both that was without fail.
Cindy gave selflessly in times of challenge and meager means to ensure her family was cared for, fed and loved.
She read a multitude of book genres over the years and countless books.
Her kindness, faithfulness and dedication made up who Cindy was and will always be. She will be cherished and her memory held close by those who knew her and were blessed to love her.
Cindy was a longtime active member with the First Baptist Church in Colville.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Ann.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Kenneth Alexander; son, Lawrence "Larry" Alexander of Portland, Oregon; daughter, Lisa Olvera (Kevin) of Spokane, Washington; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Simms of Sacramento, California, and Beverly Rendelman (Clyde) of Apple Valley, California; and many friends and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Johnson Christian School.
