In Loving Memory

Lorraine "Lorri" Dorothy Norman

Lorraine "Lorri" Dorothy Norman, a longtime Valley, WA resident, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2021 in Chewelah, WA.  She was the 4 th of eight children born to Francis and Evelyn (Payne) Jackson on April 28, 1941 in Great Falls, MT.

Lorri moved to Stevens County in the late 1940's initially to her grandparents farm out Tiger Highway along with her three sisters.  Unable to care for four young girls, the grandparents had no choice but to send the girls into foster care.  They all remained locally and Lorri graduated from Jenkins High School in Chewelah, WA with the class of 1959.  She then went on to earn her AA Degree from Eastern Washington University.

Lorri then moved back to Butte, MT where she met a carpenter by the name of Charles Lester.  They married in February of 1963 and had nine children, Theresa, Denise, Angela, Katrina, Charles, Samuel, Elizabeth, LaVonne and Joseph.  In the early 1970's, Lorri taught reading to disadvantaged students, something she was quite proud of.  Lorri and Charles would divorce in 1980 and she would move to Summit Valley and Chewelah for a short time before settling down in Valley, WA with all of her children.  Lorri would have one more daughter, Michelle.  Lorri met "Hap" Norman who treated and raised the children as his own.

Lorri was all about her family and she loved taking care of them and supporting them with all of their extra-curricular events and activities.  She would create scrapbooks of the kids and grandkids with all of their newspaper clippings and achievements.  Lorri loved gardening, bowling, doing yoga, huckleberry and mushroom picking, walks in the woods and firewood gathering trips, times she dearly cherished. Often times Lorri would make a trip down to Hap's aunts in Yakima, WA where they would enjoy antiquing, classic car shows and swap meets.  But no matter where she was or what she was doing Lorri always had books with her.  She absolutely loved to read every chance she was able.  She and Hap finally married in 2000 after two decades together and they enjoyed spending their time together playing darts, pool and horseshoes together.  They also like to buy old cars and tractors and "flip" them for a tidy profit.  Lorri will always be remembered as a kind and loving woman with a great personality and loved to laugh.  She will be dearly missed by the ones that knew her best.

Lorri was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Lester; second husband Hap Norman; children, Katrina and LaVonne; brothers, James Jackson, Calvin Jackson; sisters, Linda Jackson Donnelly, LaVonne Jackson; half-brothers, Raymond and Ronelle Rousseau.  She is survived by her children, Theresa (Vahid), Denise (Brett), Angie (Larry), Chip, Sam, Betsy (Paul), Joey (Elisha), Michelle (Joseph), step-children, Jared and Geraldine; sister Lorna. And her grandchildren, LaVonne, Amber, Tyler and Drew (Smith), Katrina, Cody, Larissa and Andrew (Sweat), Christian, Sarah, Katie, Duncan, Lili, Brodey, Delaney, Justin, Joseph and Mathew (Lester), Adien Hubbs, Taylor Braun, Emily Hyden; step-grandchildren, Jordan and David (Hayward), Amber, Jasmine, Halley and Trevor (Norman).
