Lewis William Hill

Lewis William Hill, a loving father passed away at the age of 86, Saturday, December 3, 2022 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Lewis was born February 12, 1936 in The Dalles, Oregon to John and Iva (Lehto) Hill.

Lew grew up on the farm his Finnish American grandad Herman Lehto homesteaded near Centerville, Washington. Lew had many fond memories of life on the farm with his brothers Jack and Dennis. Working in the hay fields and the pranks they pulled. After graduating high school from Goldendale, he went to work for the railroad as a fireman. In 1957 he met Lillian Hillsbery in the checkout line of the local food mart. While she rang up his orange crush, he worked up the courage to ask her out. It was love at first sight and she said yes. They were married two weeks later January 11th 1958. While still newlywed's uncle Sam called. Lew served in the United States Army stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged. Lew and Lillian returned home to Washington to help his mom on the farm after his stepdad passed. Lew returned to work for the railroad. Lillian blessed him with two son's Jeffrey and Anthony. The family moved to Bend Oregon, where Lew started a moving business. After many years of owning the business, he would sell it and move the family to Colville, Washington in 1976. In 1977 he and his friend would become partners in a distribution company until he retired in 1991. In his retirement he spent time volunteering and helping with such groups as the Eagles, Boy Scouts, Elks and Kiwanis. Lew and Lillian enjoyed fishing, boating, camping with friends and were their grandkid's biggest fans whether it be sports, academics, band or military achievements. Lew will be missed and remembered for his great sense of humor and mischievous smile.

Lew's devotion to Lillian lasted 61 years with the passing of Lillian in 2019. He was predeceased by his parents John and Iva Hill. His stepdad Ira Crane. His Brothers Jack and Dennis Hill. He is survived by his two sons: Jeffrey Hill (Leisa) of Gifford, WA and Anthony Hill (Kristine) of Medina, TN, grandchildren: Jessie Bolt (Tanner), Nick Hill (Kayla), Bruce Hill (Bridgett), Maxine Hill and great grandchildren Natalie Bolt, Troy Bolt and Aubrey Hill.

A celebration of life is planned and will be announced at a later date.
