In Loving Memory

Leroy Walter Salokar

Leroy Walter Salokar, age 86, a longtime Spokane resident, passed away peacefully with his loving sister, Irene, by his side in Spokane Valley, Washington.  Leroy was born on July 21, 1935 in Chewelah, Washington to Frank Salokar and Hilda (Erbeznik) Salokar.

Leroy was raised in the Chewelah and Spokane area, attending St. Mary's Catholic School while living with his grandparents, before finishing his high school education at Gonzaga Prep School in Spokane.  Following graduation, Leroy would leave the family farm to faithfully serve his country in the United States Army.

After completing his military service, Leroy would return to Spokane, where he would begin a lifelong career as a truck driver.  Leroy travelled many miles over the road as a proud member of the teamsters union.  Leroy was passionate about horses especially his beloved racehorse, Brandycap. When he wasn't driving truck, he loved going to Playfair  to spend time with her, watch the horses run, and bet on all his favorites.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hilda Salokar, and his brother, Dan Salokar.  He is survived by his loving sister, Irene Nist; four nieces; one nephew; and countless friends throughout Stevens and Spokane Counties.
