Laura E. Booker, age 83, entered into rest February 20, 2026 in Spokane, Washington. Laura was born March 17, 1942 in Ridgefield, Washington to Earl and Clara (Stansburg) Washburn.
Laura graduated from Woodland High School in 1960. She would marry her first husband in 1961 and move to Hawaii. Son, Earl, was born December 5, 1962. The couple separated in 1963. Laura gave birth to daughter, Judie on March 11, 1964. She and the children moved to LaMar, Colorado in 1964 and then to Nampa, Idaho in 1966. Two years later, Laura married Bob Burton. She would be a stay-at-home mom and housewife. They would divorce in 1979. Laura would then attend ITT Tech in Boise in its second class. She completed coursework in 11 months. Laura was selected to develop a missile guidance system for Government Guidance System. She would relocate to White Sands, New Mexico and remain there until she retired in 2002. She met Charles Booker in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The couple married and not long after, moved to Oklahoma to care for his parents. After seven years, the couple moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Laura and Charles lived there until Charles died in 2013. Laura would return to New Mexico in 2015. It was here that she began developing memory issues. Laura would move to Abilene, Texas to live with her daughter, Judie. Sadly, Judie developed cancer and passed away in 2023. Laura would move once again. This time, she joined her son, Earl in Colville. Earl and wife, Cheryl became her primary care givers.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Clara Washburn, and daughter, Judie Bradley d. April 24, 2023; brother Thomas Washburn d. April 12, 2021 and brother William Washburn d. January 11, 2019. She is survived by her son, Earl (Cheryl) Adams of Colville, Washington.
