In Loving Memory

Kurt Emmitt Caldwell

Kurt Emmett Caldwell, age 57, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Kettle Falls, Washington on July 8, 2022.  Kurt was born on April 11, 1965 in Bremerton, Washington to Pete and Janet (Adams) Rath.

Raised in the Bremerton area with his siblings Carrie and William, Kurt would go on to graduate from high school in Bremerton before enlisting in the Navy.  He would serve his country honorably for 8 years before retiring from the service, and after this, Kurt would return home and began driving a tow truck for a local company.  During this time, Kurt would welcome a son, Karl.  Kurt would eventually move on from driving a tow truck locally to driving a truck cross country.

After driving for Swift for many years, Kurt would make the decision to return to Washington state and settle down in Chewelah, where he would meet his significant other, Simona Barela.  Kurt would eventually move to Kettle Falls, helping a local farm with maintenance on their buildings and equipment.

Kurt had a big heart, and loved to help those around him in any way that he could.  When he wasn't putting his wide variety of skills to use on the farm, or working on his beloved classic Chevy cars, Kurt was usually helping a friend out with work on their vehicle or home.  He learned a great deal about construction when he was in the Navy, and he was sure to put those skills to good use whenever he had the chance.  Kurt was also known to have a soft spot in his heart for animals, giving a place of respite to several stray animals over the years.

Kurt was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Adams.  He is survived by his father, Pete Rath; his significant other and best friend, Simona Barela of Chewelah, Washington; his son, Karl Caldwell of Kettle Falls, Washington; his siblings, Carrie Amos of Bremerton, Washington, and William Caldwell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service for Kurt Emmett Caldwell will be held at the Calvary Chapel in Kettle Falls, Washington on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.  Please visit the on-line memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted in care.
