In Loving Memory

Kaylan Marie Martin

Kaylan Marie Martin, age 39, lifetime resident of Colville, WA passed away on Aug. 8, 2023 in Colville, WA.  Kaylan was born on Feb. 23, 1984 in Spokane, WA the daughter of Michael Sidney and Darci Ann (Citkovich) Martin.

Kaylan was raised in Colville where she attended grade school and high school.  She gravitated toward the arts while in school and especially enjoyed working with clay.  Kaylan was in the school music program and played clarinet in through junior high.  She also sang in the high school choir for time.  She graduated from the Colville High School in 2002 as a 12-year senior.  Kaylan then spent a year in Liberty Lake where she worked for California Kitchens.  She soon returned home to Colville and continued working in food service, first for Papa Murphy's and then as a sandwich artist at Mr. Sub.  For a short time, she tried her hand as a barista at Ritzes in Colville but was soon diagnosed with brain cancer in May of 2008 which left her disabled.  In 2013, it recurred as a grade 3 and she underwent radiation and chemotherapy in a continued effort to slow the cancer's growing presence.  Kaylan has resided with her mom where she could receive the needed care and TLC.

Kaylan had a huge sense of humor and enjoyed telling the stories of "days-gone-bye".   She offered her thoughts directly, sometimes very tart in delivery, but always honest and without filter.   Kaylan had a big heart and vibrant character.  She was so loved and will be missed.  There is a void in the hearts that loved her that will never heal.

Kaylan was preceded in death by her grandparents; Jack & Lorraine Citkovich, Sid & Marie Martin; a special great aunt and uncle, Robert & Lois Neswick.

She is survived by her mother, Darci Gayda (Alan) of Colville, WA, her father, Michael Martin of Colville, WA, brothers, John Tiedeman (Juliet) of Fife, WA, Brett Martin (Nina) of Colville, WA; nephew Michael Tiedeman of Fife, WA, Aunt Kathy & Uncles Ken Rogers of Spokane, WA, and Greg Citkovich of Colville, WA; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of extended family.

At this time, no ceremonies are scheduled for Kaylan M. Martin.  Memorial contributions may be given towards brain cancer research in an effort to save the lives of so many stricken with this disease.  Please visit the online memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com.  Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted with the arrangements.
