In Loving Memory

Kathleen Byron

Kathleen Byron was born in New Brunswick, N.J. on November 3, 1951 to Frank & Peggy Hanley. She joined her two brothers, John & Philip. Frances would join them two years later. She grew up in Edison, N.J. attending St. Matthew the Apostle elementary school and later Edison H.S. She graduated from Trenton State College & received her Master's Degree in Education from Rutgers University.

And so began her vocation in early childhood education. She taught in Middlesex Borough for 38 years; 24 of those as a beloved third grade teacher. ln the small town of Middlesex, you couldn't walk anywhere without kids & later adults stopping & saying hello to Mrs. Byron. The teachers of Middlesex formed a bond that would last well beyond retirement.

On October 25. 1987, she married the love of her life, Kevin. Their life was full and revolved around friends and family. Kathy and Kevin enjoyed cruises every summer (often with lots of friends). Kevin involved Kathy in his love of sports and together they enjoyed games both in person and watching with friends.

Those who knew Kathy would say she was always up for anything. She was the good-natured friend who always said yes, the adventurous sister and daughter who always went on the trip, the fun aunt and cousin who always made time to do something special. She and her fellow teachers spent time enjoying Broadway plays, concerts & their monthly book club get togethers. With this group she was able to travel to France, Italy and Spain. with family, she traveled to England, Poland and Ireland.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband and her two brothers. She is survived by her sister, Fran (Mike); her sister-in-law's Toni Hanley and Ellen Byron; her brother-in -law Dennis (Sissi); her nieces, Regina (Sage), Amelia (Chris) Elizabeth, Meghan and Amanda (Kit); her great nieces, Olivia and Angelina and her great nephews, Teddy, Joseph and Thomas, her aunts Helen and Teresa and her many cousins.

In the last three years of Kathy's life, she was cared for by Barbara Krzyszton & the respite caregivers at Catholic Charities Home Care Agency. The family is truly grateful for the care, concern, compassion & love these women showered on our sister.
