Juan Delgado Ruiz

Juan Delgado Ruiz, age 62, a 40 year resident of Chewelah, WA, passed away on Aug. 27, 2021 at his Chewelah home following a courageous battle with cancer.  Juan was born on Aug. 21, 1959 to Miguel and Jeronima (Ruiz) Delgado in Axutla, a town in the Puebla municipality of Mexico.

Juan was raised and attended school in Axutla.  There he completed high school and then moved to the United States at the age of 16.  Juan worked for several years in Salem, OR where he assisted in the farming and harvest of mushrooms.  On Nov. 20, 1981, he married Marcella Rae Everhart.  They moved to Chewelah, WA where they raised their daughter, Cassandra.  Juan enjoyed his long career of working in the outdoors and woods as a logger.  Marcella preceded him in death on Sept. 24, 2020.  His diagnosis with cancer and decline in health required he take an early retirement.

Juan was a man of exceptional character.  He gave of himself through his time, his resources and his prayer.  Juan extended food and kindness to anyone in need.  He had a strong work ethic and met each long day with gratitude.  He loved helping his family and had a wonderfully close connection to them all that will forever be felt.  He had a passion for gardening, yard work and cleanliness, which showed in his immaculate home, manicured yard and bountiful garden harvest.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Marcella Delgado, and his parents.

Juan is survived by his daughter, Cassandra Capoeman of Spokane, WA; 6 siblings, Saul Delgado, Francisco Delgado, Acacio Delgado, Eva Delgado, Reyna Delgado, and Socorro Delgado; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Juan will be laid to rest beside his family in Chiautla de Tatia, Mexico.  Memorial contributions may be given to any local animal shelter.  Please visit the on-line memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com .  Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted with his care.
