Obituary

Jodie Rae Stapleton

October 28, 1970 – September 30, 2026

Jodie Rae Stapleton was born on October 28, 1970, at St. Helens Hospital in Chehalis, Washington, to Leland Jay Stapleton and Linda Kay Eckles. She passed away on September 30, 2026, at the age of 55.

Jodie Rae was a woman of vibrant spirit, compassion, and individuality. She had a lifelong appreciation for animals, nature, classic cars, unicorns, and music. Her warmth, lively personality, and unmistakable sense of humor left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to know her.

Her love for animals was especially meaningful. From feeding ducks and local wildlife to caring for animals in need, Jodie Rae believed in treating all living creatures with kindness. She passed this compassion on to her children, teaching them to respect, understand, and listen to animals. During her time working at a pet store, she even experienced the remarkable reunion of a beloved family macaw from her children’s childhood, a memory that remained a treasured part of the family’s story.

Music and celebration were also important parts of Jodie Rae’s life. A natural entertainer, she loved singing, sharing laughter, and creating memories with family and friends. She especially enjoyed Halloween, a season close to her heart and her October birthday. Her creativity, spirited nature, and love of life’s celebrations made her truly one of a kind.

Above all, Jodie Rae treasured her family and the memories they shared. Her influence lives on in the compassion she inspired, the traditions she created, and the countless stories that will continue to be told in her memory.

Jodie Rae was preceded in death by her parents, Leland Jay Stapleton and Linda Kay Eckles.

She is survived by her daughter, Jaime LeaLynn Smith; her sons, Jacob Paul Valim and Joseph Rae Valim; her sisters, Brenda Irene Stapleton and Linda DaNell Brooks; along with extended family and cherished friends.

Jodie Rae will be remembered for her free spirit, generous heart, love of animals, and ability to bring joy and laughter into the lives of others. Though her passing came far too soon, her memory will live on through those who loved her.

Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
